Ah. I only just got the car so it only has 1200 miles so far. I'll read the service manual and wait for the car to tell me usually. Hopefully the first two services are free at any mileage I choose within the approved range?

Thanks for the tips on the rear shocks. I didn't know that was a problem for the cars. Does anybody know if this is an ongoing issue or has Lexus corrected the issue and replaced with good shocks when the bad ones go out?

As far as the car telling you when you're due for service, unless I'm missing something, that's just simply programming your maintenance reminder of when to tell you. It seems that some of you might be confusing this with Condition Based Service intervals such as on a BMW. So the rx450h will flash a little message on the little screen between your speedometer and tachometer when the programmed schedule has been met whereas BMW will supposedly tell you when to take your car in for service based on your driving conditions. So for those people waiting until the car tells you to bring it in, you may want to just double check what your dealer set your maintenance interval at because that's when you'll be "bringing it in."

You can use the 10k oil change at any mileage within the first year. I had mine changed at about 2k miles.
