Allow any display to be dragged up into HUD configuration.

Scrap the simplistic BSM, bid adieu to the power folding option, get rid of physical side view mirrors completely . Project a holographic 3D image onto the front part of the side window area to create an image from 45d in front of the vehicle to directly behind including tire/curb proximity (eliminating the front pillar blind spot as well as the rear, reducing wind noise, simplify parking).

Forget the backup camera. Review view mirror should be a combo monitor/mirror. Displaying full range 180% view behind the vehicle using augmented reality technology to display distances, other objects in motion, threat indicator. Should be integrated to the windshield instead of hanging from it.

HUD display should also use augmented reality, exaggerating lane markings (thinking wet roads at night), color filtering oncoming headlights, thermal (night) / indicator box (day) depiction of pedestrians or other animals on or near the road.

Adjustable steering wheel ratio settings. Adjustable power massager in seat backs.

An audio system that actually makes the average person say "Nice!".
Maybe in 2030?

I haven't moved up to the third generation for these reasons:

1. I can't believe nobody brought up the "harsh" ride, at least compared to the second generation.

2. Redesign the console so that there's more right knee room and no sharp-edged seam between the plastic sections.

3. Bring back wheels similar to the '08 hybrid. Solid but STYLED 5-spoke.

4. Bring back "performance" of the second gen. hybrid. I still don't understand how they managed to make it SLOWER.

5. In typical Toyota fashion, the electronics are YEARS behind Ford, Nissan...you name it.
I think the focus of the thread was more on amenities rather than powertrain/performance (at least how I responded) but I agree with you, I do miss my Gen 2 RXh's buttery ride and especially compared to my F-Sport's firm suspension. (Good or bad) Lexus is now just moving towards the sportier side of the equation to get the younger crowd more excited over the BMWs and Audis and shut up those automotive journalists - case in point, the GS has shocked them and has been all the craze in the mid-size premium luxury sedan segment.

I'm still hoping for a diesel RX with the 8 spd auto for North America. Europe gets all the fun and extremely frugal vehicles.

Lexus's navigation and audio interface left a lot to be desired...
It is one thing to grey out navigation input selection when in motion, but grey out folder selection or track selection for usb during motion? Don't know what the heck is Lexus thinking
If the logic is to promote safe driving, then why not grey out radio and cd selection too??
Not to mention while you can't use mouse to select page up/down, you can use the physical buttons to change folders..

Dual exhaust. Not necessarily for performance, but for a sportier look.

IS350:

RWD may be OK in California, but where I live, FUGGEDABOUTIT! Also, I could be wrong, but the "performance advantage" of RWD in a vehicle like the RX would be virtually unnoticeable.

There's always the Infiniti FX is you're looking for a RWD SUV in this category.

About the only really annoying thing I've come across so far is the
location of the seat heater controls.

-I must have missed it somewhere in everyone else's posting. The position of the backup camera is silly. Why in the world would you put the thing off center?! And right underneath where the water runs down from the rear window wiper. When it rains water drops stay glued to the surface of the camera lens. Then it dries and leaves muddy spots, thus making the camera useless. They need to place the camera in the center and in place where water doesn't hang on. Someone did mention applying lines to the backup camera, that would be great, especially in this price class.
-The shielding on the satellite radio antenna either needs to be thinner or boost the power supply. I live in the wooded country and constantly loose signal. I've never had a problem with satellite reception in these same areas with my 2006 Dodge Durango or 2013 Hyundai Genesis.
-Sunglass holder!! Just one, would be great! my RX350 sport doesn't have one at all! COME ON!
-Larger gas tank with better gas mileage would be great. Holding a mere 16gal at 21mpg, I'm filling up all the time. I thought by getting a smaller SUV, I'd be seeing the gas station less. WRONG!
-eDestination app in the Lexus Enform mobile app is a JOKE. I have the app on my iphone5, but I can't add/search for new destinations from the app ONLY from the computer?!? Useless.
-have just one of the plug in power sources stay powered when the car is off. My Durango had 2, which is great for continuing to charge your phone or ipad while running into the store or if you are out in the wilderness. charging your phone won't kill your battery

I can tell you, I'm thrilled to have only leased this thing.

Actually - any sort of visible exhaust. Anyone fitted a chrome extension to their RX? The rear end looks blah without it.

Ah - something else just hit me in the head this AM when I went to carry at 17"x20"x12" box in the back.

What could have possibly been in the interior designers heads when they mounted the luggage cover about a foot behind the rear seats? The seats don't recline that far back do they?

This not large box (with it's flaps open) had problems fitting in the rear with the cover fully retracted. It hit the extension of the rear cover that's mounted to the inside of the tailgate under the window and displaced it. Luckily the extension appears to be designed to be displaced since it just snaps back in place.

Very odd IMHO. I guess the luggage cover is going to the hall closet for about 10 years (the time we generally keep a car - at least SWMBO keeps a car.)

I've owned about 5 different vehicles (from Toyota, BMW and Porsche) that use a luggage cover for the exposed rear storage area. This is the only one that has this problem. Odd. Very odd. Many of the other ones combined a mesh pull-up screen (often referred to as the dog-screen) that is designed to keep luggage from throwing itself forward in a front-end collision. We also don't have that available.
