NJ is not in a snow belt so that's why I said it wasn't worth getting snow tires. I'm not saying we don't get a storm from time to time. I've made it through far worse than the one going on right now. And no, I haven't been out in it other than to shovel the driveway. Probably tomorrow.

Yes, I did. Putting aside my loyalties to Lexus and the greater panache Lexus has over Acura, here are the reasons why I chose the RX after considering the RDX:

1. The RX is overall a step above the RDX. The rumored future (2015?) compact CUV from Lexus dubbed NX 200t / NX 300h will compete against the RDX.
2. Substantially more safety and luxury features available on the RX. Where are the cooled seats, HUD, BSM, park assist, and pre-collision features?
3. RX has a noticeably roomier interior and trunk with a more versatile 40/20/40 split rear seat compared to a 60/40 - RX is a midsize SUV while RDX is borderline compact/mid-size. RX is 5 inches longer and 1 inch wider.
4. RDX has more visible roots to the CRV versus the RX to its Highlander cousin. Not a bad thing to be based on the CRV, but besides the V6, feature-wise and size is close to the CRV.
5. RX is smoother and quieter especially at highway speeds.
6. RX has better interior materials, fit, and finish where the RDX feels more like the Honda. For instance, compare the headliner, carpeting, door panel materials of the RX to the RDX and you'll see the RDX's "economy" roots.
7. Goes with material quality above where the leather quality looks and feels better on the RX. Past experiences with older RXs and an MDX I've owned showed the Acura leather to wear out and crack after 30-40K miles versus the RX still looked close to new.
8. Styling of the exterior F-Sport won me over the more vanilla/conservative design of the RDX.
9. Not fond of the buttons-galore and center stack design of the RDX.
10. Wallet key of the RX is extremely convenient. Never have to carry a key fob. Not available on the RDX.
11. Unsurpassed Lexus (and RX) accolades for reliability and quality though Acura is excellent as well near the top.

The RDX is a great vehicle, but it's not a fair comparison to the RX which is a superior vehicle, but it will set you back $4-5K over the RDX. If budget is a big factor, the RDX is a quality product though lacks in features for its luxury pretensions.
