OEM battery specs
2010 Rx, japan built.65k + miles. Bought July 2009. I expect the battery to die anytime now as batteries rarely last beyond 3 yrs here. Looking in the manual and the battery itself, there is no label to say what the specs are; CCA, size etc. Anyone have any idea what the OEM battery size/CCa ratings are for these cars? TIA

Battery life depends on a lot of things.....the OEM battery in my 2006 IS350 was over six years old and still going strong when I finally replaced it as I was going on a six week trip and I didn't want to chance it.

That's the first thing I did...I called and all they wanted me to do is bring it in. What BS...all I want is some specs and since it's out of warranty, they want me to make an appt for this inquiry. My battery tester needs the rated CCA to calculate percent battery life left based on the load test it does. Didn't think it was this hard to find specs on an OEM battery. Wow.

Ah HA! You gave me an idea...I called our trusty Sponsor Vendor Sewell instead of my local dealer again...they gave me specs for what is normally in this series of vehicle....size 24F, 575 CCA.
Sewell is great. Thanks for the suggestions. Sometimes just cannot see the forest for the trees.

Unfortunately, Costco does not carry the Group 24F battery sadly...unless you want a Group 35 that is smaller but is priced well. Another good place would be to go to Sam's Club if you have a membership. At Sam's Club, I bought a Energizer branded 24F battery (for my parents' previous RX using the same size) for $83 and good warranty just as good as the Kirkland batteries. Or if you have a Advance Auto Parts nearby you, they usually have some very good deals online and you can pick up at the local store.

Original batteries do not have any stickers on them, for rx350s they should be 582cca- replacement batteries are usually 575cca - try interstate 800cca for a heavy duty battery upgrade.

I would replace it with a AGM battery. They are superior to the old style acid batteries. I'm surprised Lexus is not using one in the RX already. I have already used two of these. Both bought over internet (no issues with shipping, etc.). However they do cost more.

If cost is a factor, just get your battery from Walmart. The Everstart batteries are made by Johnson Controls. Relatively cheap with a 3 year free replacement + 2 year pro-rate.
Same manufacturer as Interstate, Sears Diehard and many OEM's like Benz, Bmw, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen.

Its basically a duopoly here with batteries Johnson Controls and Deka. Note: The cold weather states will offer higher CCA batteries of the same group size.

Is your battery showing sings of weakness? Is the car hardly cranking? I would throw a set of jumper cables in the trunk and get more life out of it. Usually, batteries don't just die all of a sudden - they slowly become less efficient as they hold less charge. Optima Yellow Top lasted about 6 years in my IS. I did completely drain it a number of times, so it wasn't that great at end of its life, but it would still start the car.
