I've had my 2013 RX for a couple months now, and haven't figured out how to mute the volume on the stereo...or do you just have to press and hold until it goes down?

Or just push the power/volume ****.

 

Press and hold the mode button on the steering wheel for a few seconds. It actually turns the stereo off but it can be turned back on by pressing the mode button again briefly. At least that's how it works on my 2010.

 

You don't say if you have NAV. The owner's manual (page 214 of the NAV manual) says you can mute using the PLAY/PAUSE button just to the right of the CD/DVD slot. It might work for non NAV systems, too.

 

on my 2010 RX 450h too!

 

On the 2013 pressing and holding the Mode button mutes the audio. Repeat to un-mute.
