Five Weeks In
Today marked five weeks of ownership of my 2013 RX 450h. Knock on wood - still no fit, finish or rattle issues. The systems are becoming second nature now - I highly recommend the BSM and HUD if you have the chance to include them on your vehicle. The little things like lock/unlock with a touch and seat moving back when I shut it off are really quite nice to have. I keep finding neat little things - the latest is a place to clip a pen on the inside of the center console lid. Handy! The mileage has been great right from the start - 29 MPG overall to date.
I'm very happy with everything with one small issue - the paint is definitely softer than my previous 1st gen RX. I already have a couple of tiny chips in the leading edge of the hood. On my to-do list is to get a 3M paint protection film installed. If anyone has any installer they'd recommend in Northern VA, I'd welcome a PM.
It was a beautiful fall day here - low humidity and about 65 degrees - so I got around to doing the full Zaino treatment (wash with dish soap, Z18 clay bar, wash with Z7, wax with Z5 + ZFX, a touch of Z6 spray, and glass polish with Z12) on the finish. Prior to now it was just weekly hand washes with Meguiar's "regular" car wash. I sprung for an ultra light small two step ladder and it makes getting the roof done properly much easier. I'm 6' but it's still a lot easier to reach from two steps up.
They say a clean black car is a beauty and I certainly agree. Here is how my Stargazer Black turned out:
