Strange quirk with the voice recognition
My wife took our '12RX to western PA for a college reunion (I'm sworn to secrecy as to the number). On her drive out there, she tried using the voice recognition. It usually did not understand her. I've never had a problem. She tried talking louder and softer to no avail. Finally, just for yucks, she tried lowering her voice "to sound like a man" and voila, it worked perfectly every time. I joked that I programmed it that way so that I had at least one woman in my life who would listen to and understand me, (she didn't think that was funny). However, I sure do find that strange. Anyone else run into that or have any explanations?

...to be honest...I have the same problem, not my wife...I tried evrything and then I realized that it was ..the accent!!! ...so I do all my entries manually, dialing by assigned code to the must dialed numbers...etc...I refused to talk to that "woman" anymore..

That is too funny.......I don't usally have a problem, just on the more complicated street names. I have called her a name or two. Siri is worse.

My wife has a really high pitched voice and she had to do the same thing. When I give it commands there are no problems. She also found if she looks up towards the SOS button it helps. I cant prove that it will work for anyone elso though.

I don't use mine, although each winter I tell myself that I am going to learn how.
I have a freind who had a 2nd gen RX and he had real problems with his. We were in it one night and he asked for a list of Italian Restaurants (we are near Hershey, PA) and it came back with a list of Public Libraries in Connecticut!! He told me that Lexus had replaced his system and that the 2nd one did the same thing. We joke about that to this very day!!!

Yes, I gave up on voice recognition in my 2nd gen 2006 RX400h after a week of trying, but understand from a number of folks here that 3rd gen is far superior. I plan to give it a try!
