I have programmed a ton of "Homelink" systems, and never had any issue, until I tried to program my IS350. I tried and tried to program it the same way I did all of the others I've done, including our RX, to no avail. I even read the manual!

My issue was that I thought I was smarter than the car and the owners manual, and yes, I seem to be extremely stubborn. I saw no reason to use the non "rolling code" procedure BEFORE using the "rolling code" procedure. But I was wrong, and it is necessary to do both steps. Try the same with your RX, and see if it works.

The "electronics guru" at the local Lexus store simply didn't believe me when I told him I programmed our RX without having to do both steps. He swears that it is necessary on all their cars. Maybe mine was unusual, or something.

+1 for Woodrow

Everytime I spend an hour trying to reprogram the Homelink for whatever reason, I have to remind myself "Read the friggin manual carefully"

BOTH steps are necessary to ensure success

ps Homelink.com has some pretty detailed instruction by vehicle and by opener manufacturer

The instructions from this other thread and in particular the detailed instructions from the Homelink website worked on the first try! I never had to use my garage remote first when programming any of my other non-Lexus vehicles in the past, so I was very frustrated trying to program my RX450h until I saw these instructions. Thanks for the advice...
