Hi,
Does this final price $44,000 include the tax TTL or not? Thanks a lot.

Hi all,
I think I may have gotten the best deal yet. I was very aggressive, calling 6 dealers in the Boston and Southern NH area over a period of 10 days. I knew exactly what I wanted after visiting one dealership and understanding what the various packages and options are.
I also had lots of info such as invoice prices, hold back, etc. I also knew that I was in the drivers seat being that it was the end of the month. I learned that there is a tremendous amount of margin (perhaps hidden) in these cars.
Almost every dealer game me an initial price quote of about $1500-$2000 off of MSRP. But with even a little pressure on my part, within 10-15 minutes, they would almost all shave another $1000 off the price.
But that wasn't good enough for me. I wanted the absolute best i could get. In all situations I forced the issue and ended up having the GM join the discussion. The GM is the sales manager's boss. You know that when the GM gets into the deal, your getting a good deal. I saw many of them wiggle and whine about price.
In the end, this is what I bought today (I already have it home):
2013 RX350 AWD
Comfort package
Premium package w/BSM
Navigation
Intuitive parking assist
Wood & Leather Trimmed steering wheel and shift ****
cargo mat, cargo net and wheel locks
Cross bars
12 speaker premium audio (a no cost option)
Color: Nebula Pearl with Light Gray leather interior (exactly what I wanted)
total MSRP: $49,824
invoice price: $46,410
I paid $44,000 plus $399 documentation fee. I normally insist that they reduce that too, but I decided that the deal was pretty great, so I accepted the doc fee.
Total savings off MSRP: $5800 ($2400 off of invoice)
It was a cash/check deal. No financing.
I just drove the car home. I love it.
Next thing I need to do is to shop around for an extended warranty. I almost never buy it on the day I buy the car. I have always had good luck locating other dealers over the internet with better prices. In the past few years I bought an extended warranty for my wife's new Toyota Prius from a Toyota dealer in the state of Washington. I also bought a GM warranty for a new Chevy from a dealer in Kansas. They are the same I would buy at my local dealer but 30-40% cheaper. Any recommendations for Lexus dealers with great extended warranty prices?
Great club, this Club Lexus. I'm happy to be joining the Lexus family.

Steve

No it does not. I really don't the we should post those extra state related charges since they are different for each persons state and can't be negotiated anyway.
It's better that way so we compare apples to apples.
For example Florida has about 6% sales tax. NH has no sales tax, MA has about 5% tax.
Agreed ?

Thanks, Steve.
I live in Oregon, and no sales tax here. But the vehicle price is a little bit higher than other popular places. Probably there are no so many Lexus dealers here.

New '13 450h story
Finalized our deal on Saturday after 2 dreadful experiences last month. We were all set to buy a 450h on 8/30 from Dealer 1 (our local dealer). But things went south once the sales manager got involved. He wouldn't give us the deal we were looking for (the price they offered ($52,500), but we wanted the remote starter, at first included, then offered splitting the cost). He then looked at me with a straight face and said, well you don't go into an Apple store and tell them what you want to pay for an ipod or ipad. I said that was a ridiculous comparison, and he proceded to increase the price of the remote starter from around $500 to what he said was MSRP of $995. We walked.
We had a very similar experience with the Dealer 1 back in '06 when we purchased our RX330. Salesman was nice enough, then it became an issue of well we can't really do this and that once the sales mgr joined in. So walked in '06 and ended up purchasing it from a different dealer. So we went to that dealer to see what they would do since our first purchase was ok. After checking in and then wandering around the lot for over 30 mins with no help, we finally got a salesman. Ultimately, they blew us off this time because (1) they didn't have a blue 450h in stock, (2) seemed to have no interest in finding one, and (3) wouldn't touch $52,500 which we had from Dealer 1 (sales mgr told us to call the dealer when we left because that's too good a price to pass up). Ok. . .
Dealer 3 had our car, but would not budge from $54k. Nice enough via email and phone, but not in our range (and it turns out their car was an older '13 that did not have the blind spot monitor - not that this was a deal breaker, but the blind spots in our 330 are a definite negative).
Dealer 4 was a breeze. They had what we wanted, and similar to other experiences here, via email started at $1500 off MSRP. We said that's not in our range given our shopping, so they lowered it another $1500; still not there. Then they called and lowered by another $500, not quite there. We told them this is the car we want, we had another dealer at $52,500 but admittedly that didn't include the remote starter (we didn't want to lose another blue 450h). He said will you come in tomorrow for $53k; we agreed. Might have had a little more room, but we wanted this done.
So for $53k + TTL, $395 paperwork (we've seen a range from $250 to $750 and didn't want to haggle anymore) and $499 for body side molding (again, too tired to negotiate further) we have a new deep sea mica 450h AWD!

You should be hobbes4434 with your nice $4434 discount. Nice patience to get your price, options and color. We wanted a Deep Sea Mica, but couldn't find one. Looking forward to your photos to see what it looks like. Congratulations and welcome.

I think what we are learning is that in the past east coast people have just not tried hard enough to get a good discount,,,,and a fallacy that discounts are easier on the west coast.....Great going Dave!!! You set a great example for others!!

Thanks to everyone here on the board for sharing info and providing reviews on the 450h. It helped us feel a bit more comfortable spending a whole lot of money. I hope our information proves helpful to others. We've enjoyed our 330 for the past seven years (and hopefully for 7 more), and can't wait to get the 450h on the road!!!

Oh, and FWIW, if you are in the Boston metro area and happen to be a federal employee, the Hanscom AFB credit union currently has unbelievable financing rates. With good credit, 1.99% for 36 months, less 0.25% for being a credit union member and direct debit of the car payment, AND less 0.50% for a buying hybrid, bringing the rate down to 1.24% for 36 months. For 48 months, it's 1.44%. Best Lexus would offer was 1.99%.

FWIW I got a 2013 for $44,844. Premium package, comfort package, Navigation package, 19" superchrome wheels, HID lights, Parking assist, wood/leather steering wheel, cargo net/mat/wheel locks/key gloves, 12 speaker premium audio. Also got dealer to tint the driver's and passenger side front windows. I bought the body side molding at the dealer for $106 and put it on myself in about 45 minutes. The vehicle had 1065 miles on it and was originally titled June 22 by someone who decided they wanted a GX instead so it was about 8 weeks old when we got it. Spotless and still smelled new inside. We traded in our 2001 RX 300 that had 84,000 miles on it and received $8000. We were going to get a certified 2011 or 2012 but when I saw this 2013 I thought it was a better deal for the money.

2013 RX Purchased 9/13/12
I just got a deal on my 2013 RX350 that had a sticker price of $49,500 down to $45 flat, and $49,500 OTD with all taxes and fees from a San Diego, CA dealer. I was really happy with the deal.
I got a very rare stargazer black with parchment interior, nav, 19's, comfort package: Xenon HID lights, sun roof, etc. I got them to throw in roof cross bars and tint for free.
Pretty sure moving the sticker price down from $49,500 to $45,400 was a sweet deal...$4,100 reduction.
RX's are sitting on the lot about an average of 28 days right now, so that gives the dealers a lot of incentive to move products when people have cash to buy. It was only about 18 days just two months ago when the 2013's first hit the lot and these types of deals weren't happening then.
