Intelligent High Beams Gone on 2013?

That has been discussed in another thread already, pre-2013 had bi-xenons, while post-2013 are only single xenons now. See https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...t-halogen.html

This was an interesting article which may shed light on the discussion.

Intelligent High Beams Missing in 2013 RX350!!!
Is it crazy to ask if I can have the Intelligent High Beam Sensor added after market to my 2013 RX 350 by a dealership or will I just have to wait until my next car? I don’t know if I can enjoy this vehicle without it…

Our standard of living has apparently gone up a lot if we can no longer enjoy vehicles without Intelligent High Beams...

Yes, The 2013 did not have Intelligent High Beams like the 2012. When we bought our 2013 we were used to them on the 2012, and the sales people were not aware of them being gone on the 2013, I tried to give the 2013 back but the dealer would not give my sticker price back, so we kept it. I keep the 2012 just because of the Intelligent lights.

How to turn OFF intelligent high beams, on a 2012
Lots of folks seem to like the intelligent high beam function on the 2010-2012 models. My 2012 rx450h is not so intelligent -- it seems to work randomly, regardless of the ambient lighting, oncoming headlights, taillights, reflective signs, etc. The basic auto-headlamp function works fine, and there's no obvious obstruction on the windshield.
I want to turn off the intelligence function so that I can use the bright/dim switch myself.
How to disable the intelligence? (I feel like astronaut Dave in 2001SpaceOdyssey)
The only references I can find online are for the 2016+ models, which is when it seems Lexus really started put all this info online.
Summary: how to make my bright/dim headlamp switch work manually, without the intelligent system overriding it?

The " auto" button on my rearview mirror does indeed turn off&on a little green indicator light on the mirror, but it seems to have no effect on the Intelligent Bright/Dim switching of the headlamps. That still appears to be random. I want control of the bright/dim switch! How can I take back manual control of the bright/dim switch?

The headlamp auto hi/lowBeam option is different. I am not sure in which Gen/year-model it was introduce for RX. I think I don't have that in 2011 450H.

The Auto on the rear view mirror controls the tilt of the rear facing mirrors. Long time back there used to be a two position thumb button to control the tilt [at night time the light from the vehicle behind you could be blinding] and some called it the day/night switch. With the Auto engaged [green light] the driver does nothing and and the side mirrors also tilt and the change is not instantaneous .... kind like a slow transition.

Yes, my 2012 RX450 definitely has "intelligent swiching" , though it is using some mysterious intelligence that I would rather disable.
I cannot manually turn highbeams on -- always depends on the opinion of the intelligence-engine. Even on a pitch-black highway it might not go bright; then suddenly it decides to brighten up on a local road.

Thanks for the correction on the "Auto" button on the rearview mirror. That makes sense.

The intelligence is based on sensor on the front [on-coming side] of the rear-view mirror. See if you have anything obscuring the sensor ... toll-card?
