Default 2012 LED Headlights from Sewell. High Beam Dilemma.

Got a little dilemma here. I recently got my 2012 LED headlights from Sewell installed in my '08. The thing the DRLs dont come on till I switch the parking lights on or turn the low beams on. The only light that is on is the high beams (at low power.) Also, the high beams stay on when I switch it to the parking lights (at this point the DRL turns on) and the only time the high beams come off is when I turn the low beams on. Sorry if it's confusing but would anyone know why? I thought the Sewell lights were plug and play? I got them unloaded so I did have to transfer the ballast and bulbs but I doubt that should have anything to do with it? Can someone chime in?

The lights look great but they are not functioning the way they should.

Ok first I'm sure someone is gonna come along after me and post the original thread that covers this but I'm gonna just type the down and dirty. The reason for your dilemma is the way the sewell lights come they are wired to come on with the park lights and headlights. Your high beams( at partial power) remain on while the park lights do is because those are the original DRLs. So you have 2 choices to deal with the high beam (low power issue) 1 disconnect the bulbs for the high beams but you will also loose your high beams, or 2 go to the Lexus dealer and see of they will disable your DRLS that is what I did. If Lexus disables the DRLS you will still have your high beams. Hope this helps .

That's the impression I got. If I disable the DRLs will the LED DRL still light up when the parking lights are still on? Also, you said disabling them will still save their High Beam functionality, correct?

Is it possible to rewire it correctly without damaging it?

Yes LED strip will still work with either park lights or headlight switch on. The only mode it won't come on is AUTO, until night fall when the headlights come on.

FYI there is a mod that you can do to wire up your LED strip so they are always on when the car is running. That way you can keep the stalk on auto and still run your LED strip in the day without having to keep turning your lights on and off.

you dont really have to turn it on and off, if you leave it on all the time they still turn off when you shut the car off and lock it. I bought the cable to hook up to the car with my laptop but I hear it only runs on XP...ill have to find an XP laptop to use it and then ill give it a try. Although to me its not a big deal having the drl on at the same time during the day.

I called my local Lexus dealership and they said they can't disable my DRLs... -_-

*EDIT* Called another dealership and they said they can, so let's see.

They can and should turn off your DRL for free if you ask them to.
