Hi everyone, newbie here. I too just looked under my newly acquired 2011 RX 350 and noticed the oil drain plug and oil filter were exposed. I thought there was supposed to be an engine floor cover to cover those areas. Is my car missing something? Please advise. Thanks.

Does your RX look like my pic? If so, then I guess your not missing anything. I think its exposed on the RX models.

Thanks for the reply. However, this gets quite interesting (to me anyway). There is actually a cover for that area, just curious as to why so many of our RX do not have it installed.

I would be curious to see if there were any differences between a Japan built and a Canadian built RX of this vintage. Perhaps it was designed to have one and then the decided later to not install one on the factory line. Or, did a bunch of service tech get lazy and just pull and dispose of them so they would not have to deal with removing them each time?

The only trouble I have is to see the oil filter housing being exposed in this manner.

Believe the first step is to confirm with a picture of a cover actually existing.

or find it:

That part # definitely represents a cover, driver and passenger side cover side.

Thanks.

When I have time next week, I probably will remove some panels off mine just to check against the part #s

Our 2010 rx, built in 2009 in Japan has the same "gap" in underbody cover. Me thinks that's the way it is.
