Default Steering wheel color off?

I've looked at a few '10s and '11s on line and the majority seem to have the same problem a lot of 2nd gen do, mismatched steering wheel wood. It's my understanding the wheel is added later in the manufacturing process and matches are hit and miss.

Do you find this to generally a problem with 3gen? You would think they would have solved this by now.

This is a random car I looked at and it shows the mismatch and no, I don't think the wheel is in the sun.

Lurking in the 3rd gen forum. Thinking of getting one, Carver

That's one of the reasons why I like my naked steering wheel.

Mine matches perfectly in my 2012 450h. I will have to check some others out to see if there are some out. I should also say that here in Canada, we only have two choices in the wood.

Carver, not that I'm aware of. I went ML this time around so no plans to make any changes in that department. I don't think the 3rd gen dash can take an additional screen with the way it's is set up. A project? What did you have in mind?

Care to expand on this? I'm assuming you mean a faceplate and harness for the audio system in the dash??? Or am I way off base on this?

Fly Audio has the faceplate and connectors to add a head unit to a 3 gen.

I'd prefer nav built in with remote touch. Are you sure you're not looking at a 3rd gen

Very interesting! Any idea how this operates with the factory systems? I.e. the mouse, steering wheel controls, etc...? Although I'm not sure what all is being added/upgraded with this setup. I wonder if it allows someone to add an aftermarket amp to power better speakers while keeping all the factory controls...

If you look under 'Functions' at the web site it give you a good idea of some of what it does. It does integrate quite a bit but I am not familiar enough with 3 gen controls to know how much.
