Default Pricing Instock over Factory Order

I know dealers want to unload their RX's on the lot over factory order outs, but is there a big price
difference to you or the dealer either way?

I'm waiting for mine coming from Japan with trailer package in Obsidian/lt gray.
I wanted it the week of Christmas which gave them three weeks from the signing.

Also they told me trailer package can be installed three ways:
#1 on the assembly line.
#2 At the arrival port in the states.
#3 At their dealership.

In the end, you have to negotiate a final price. I think that the dealer has enough discretion to make the same deal with either approach. FWIW, on my last car purchase I was offered a very low price on a car that was in transit to one dealership. When my local dealership heard that I was considering waiting the 10 days for the car to arrive at the other dealership, they matched the price and sold me an identical car that they had just received a couple of days earlier. It was a two minute negotiation.

I would have the trailer package installed at the factory, if it is still an option.

If you are talking a true factory order spec'd exactly as you want and built for you vs. them searching incoming vehicles for a match, the pricing will vary depending on the dealer. He should be able to give you a good price because he doesn't have capital tied up in ordering the vehicle and putting it on his lot. However, some dealers just don't want the hassle and will quote MSRP or maybe a bit below for a custom order. It just depends on how familiar they are with ordering one for a customer. And remember they have risk in ordering one for a client as the buyer can just walk away and the dealer then has a vehicle that he has to sell, and if it has an odd combination of options it may be a tougher sell.

I say when your in this price range if you can't find one with the options you want - order it. Then its exactly what you want. IMO. The dealerships are more inclined to want to sell you something on the lot.

I posted a picture of the Factory installed, yes in Japan trailer hitch in another thread. I was very impressed with how clean the install is. They do have to trim the fascia underneath a bit but my cuts look like they were done prior to installiation. You can NOT see them unless you lie on the ground.
