Default Options and prices on RX 350.

My salesperson seemed to be unfamiliar with the thigh extending feature. It shows as part of the luxury package on the brochure. This dealer seemed to sell them only two ways, with and without NAV, or close to that.

I am all for simplifying. But I see that feature also comes with lit up door sills. And headlight washers. So, I may want that other package.

Question is, are there some features that are hard or impossible to get?

Or should I insist I want them and make them search or factory order?

I must admit I am a sucker for purchasing one from the lot as I think I can get a better deal and I like to drive it away.

And, not sure if this should be a separate thread, but the price was $49750 and I would like to pay 42-43K. I am off to Edmunds now to research that. I also want that .9 financing!

There are three most common configurations of RX350 out there:
(1) Non-Navi model ~45K
(2) Nav equiped ~50K
(3) Nav + Luxury Pkg ~55K

The prices I list are based on AWD models give or take a few hundred $ depending on some miscellaneous add-ons.

You've already mentioned the first two and it looks like the (3) is what you're looking to get. The (3) is less common and usually comes equipped with Mark Levinson and the HUD. The front seat extenders that you mentioned comes with it is on both drivers and front passenger seats.

For reference, I purchased the (3) model that had an MSRP for around 55K and the invoice price of $49,800K.

Many members on this board have come to love their HUD; but I barely use it

Thanks Lexusguy, I appreciate the input. Tell me, are the thigh extenders worth it in your opinion?

I had it on my ES (only on the driver's side) as part of the UL package and I thoroughly loved it. having it on the RX now is a bonus.

However, if you only wan the thigh extensions and none of the other "toys" that comes with the Luxury package, it may not be worth the difference in price.

I had the lit door sills and headlight washers on my 2004 RX. The door sills I never paid any attention to and the headlight washers I NEVER used. I had the leg extenders on an Explorer I owned years ago and that feature I used quite often. In my opinion the luxury package is a little over rated, the HUD is something I'd pass on, because the information it provides is readily available on the dash and easily seen. I would think the HUD would be a distraction, but, that's just me.

I'm curious - you had the option of NOT using the headlight washers? I always thought those were always linked to the windshield washers and came on with them? Or did you not ever use the windshield washers? I just know the other vehicles I had (Jag, MINI, Volvo, VW) it was always all or nothing. The option would be cool since it's just a waste of fluid when it's just some bird poo on the windshield you want to get rid of.

I have the Luxury Package and enjoy every feature it comes with, except the headlight cleaners. I am tall so the seat extender was a must have and I really wanted the power folding mirrors, the lighted sills were a bonus. I love the HUD, didn't think I would and it took a week or so to get used to. That's all I look at now, no distraction what so ever. Don't forget about the upgraded leather, it does have a softer feel. Sometimes you just have to go for it all.

Here are the 3 standrad option package we get in the new Engalnd region, if you want the luxury package, you will need to special order.

The invoice for the $49750 RX is about $45000+, I think that would be the best you can hope for. 42-43K seems a bit low, but it never hurts to ask.

The headlight washers are mostly independent of the windshield washer - there's a separate button for them. However, I believe after you spray the windshield washer a few consecutive times, the headlight washers do come on once along with that. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

On my 2004 RX you had to press the button for the headlight washers to operate, they worked independant of the windshield wipers. I used them once just to see how they worked, press the button and washer fluid sprays at the headlights and blows onto the hood (which was how I could tell they were working). They "never" operated in unison with my windshield wipers. Hope that answers your questions. The feature just wasn't something I needed but came with one of the packages on the vehicle.

The HUD does not much for me. But then again neither did heated seats. UNTIL I tried them

It just makes sense to me that EVERY seat should have those extenders. Silly to be an option.

Thanks for the Invoice info. That is where I figured I would end up at about %$45K. BUt the LUXURY package changes everything.

Sometimes you must go for it all. Yeah, I do agree with that. I do not NEED to purchase it this time, so I could even wait until Dec 30th. They always say end of month end of year is best

I really do think that buying a car is the most fun thing in this world!

Cape Dave--I am going to recommend that you find an RX with the seat extenders and try the seat before you decide that you want it. I have them on my Ultra Premium (Canadian--every option) and I can tell you from experience that the entire seat is different - I verified that via part numbers and the seat has a very different feel to it. Having said that, I hate the feel of that seat and cannot wait for the mid cycle refresh coming in the spring--that option will not be ordered again for me! Everyone is different--so try it before you buy it!

Thanks dentate, that is excellent advice. I did not realize that the entire seat could be different.

There is ALOT to consider when buying a car, that is for sure.

I think these seats are more prevalent in the 450h so maybe they have one of those in the showroom that has a seat I could try.

Headlight washers operate with the windshield washers only when the headlights are on. The headlight washer button can be operated manually at any time.

If your headlights are dirty with road film or whatever, how is that headlight washer effective by just squirting windshield fluid onto the headlight cover without any wiping action like your windshield wipers? How effective are those headlight washers?
