Default RX350 Spontaneously Started

We have a 2010 RX350. On Sunday morning, police came to our door to let us know a Lexus registered in our names was running with the windows down. We had parked the RX350 on Saturday afternoon on the street, and it was fully turned off with the doors locked. Both key fobs were in our house - far too far away to control the vehicle. It didn't appear that anyone tried to break into the RX350. As the cops noted, no thief in Philadelphia would break into a car, start it and then leave it. We have no idea what happened, but has anyone seen or heard of anything else like this?

so it was still parked where you left it but just started?

Do you have remote starter installed? I know the windows can be rolled down by the keyfob and if you have remotes starter installed, it could theoretically be started as well. Were the fobs on the table or in your pocket? many owners have had windows rolled down because their thighs were inadvertently pressing on the fob buttons

we don't have automatic starting. And the keyfobs were on a table in the house - not in our pockets. So we couldn't have inadverdently started them by pressing against another surface.

Could be a faulty starter. I would take it in for service right away. Tell them it cost you a visit my the local PD and you don't exactly want that experience again. I did find something similar in the IS Forum here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...matically.html

There was never any follow-up on it, however. Again - get it into the dealer.

Your dog stole a fob, got the car open, started, and windows down. While hanging his head out the window wondering why there was no breeze, he spotted a squirrel and bailed out for the chase. He then thought it best to head home and place the fob on the table. Mystery solved.

I had our windows roll down once because the fob button was pressed accidently while in my pocket and I've since disconnected that feature. Very odd that the windows would open and car start unless there is a glitch in your system which is possible. I would take it in to the dealer and tell them the story. They may be able to run some diagnostics. Good luck, I would want that issue fixed asap.

Default "All Windows Down" Feature

My wife went into the garage one morning and came back asking, "Why are all the windows rolled down?"

I certainly did not intentionally do this, and I had visions of its happening sometime when I've parked the car somewhere on the street or in a parking lot.

I have since had the feature turned "OFF".

It's not user-customizable - you have to get the Lexus service guys to do it.
