Default When you're drivin' the RX....

People are just nicer to you on the roads it seems. They are polite and ask to cut in instead of jamming themselves in front of you. They are very helpful with directions, they smile over at you at red lights, etc. Anyone else notice that or am I just on an RX high and have not come down yet?

They're probably thinking, crap I can't afford to hit that car!

I really don't notice it or maybe I'm not paying attention

Say what you will but when I owned a Mercedes a few years ago I noticed the same thing. When you are going down a road with not enough room for 2 cars I found that they would pull aside first. It was probably "Holy Crap, If I hit this thing, I am not sure I can afford to have it fixed"

That beings said, when you smile the world smiles with you and you are on a contact high from the RX aura right now. Dont fight it, just enjoy the ride.

I found the opposite. It seems like I get cut off all the time now. No one ever cut off my escalade.

jerks will be jerks whatever car you're driving.
The same people who don't use turn signal, the same driver's who speed up when they see YOUR turn signal and You're about to change lanes.

you are on "RX high" as you will soon find when you discover "dings" and "scratches" from folks hating the "haves".

I always like to be courteous to other drivers. It really pays. Once I was driving on a high mountain toll road and just as I was approaching the toll booth, a driver in a black suv was about to pull in after stopping at the public washroom. I motioned for him to pull ahead and when I followed him to the toll gate, I found that he had paid my toll as well as his own. It proves my point......courtesy does pay, I smiled and waved a thank you to him and away we went. I was driving our avalon at the time..
Cheers,
Jim

Its something other than that. The RX is a calming vehicle to me. I dont particularly like to drive fast when I am in it. Probably driving the RX is much better for my blood pressure.

I too have had my toll paid once when I let someone into the lane. Mind you, we were all in a huge traffic jam approaching the toll booths, and he basically cut in front of everyone.

It is amazing how somthing small changes the way you drive. I have my name on the side of my current truck as advertising and once i put that on I noticed I slowed down, became less agressive and less worked up in the car because I was alway cognizant of your image.

Many times I have wanted to lay on the horn at at *** in front of me or otherwise but then I think I no longer have annonymity.

@ RXSF and Gladiator 9 it's time to get yourselves an EZ PASS. =)

i completely agree with being a good driver, and we've been enjoying a very low car insurance premium because of that.

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and i can't wait to hear my Uncle's stories about how every driver is polite.. at least to him.. slows down when he's changing lane, gives him the Left lane even if he doesn't ask for it and all those nice things as if everyone has just gotten out of Driver's Ed class.

and he's not afraid to go 15 over the limit.. probably something about his car though.. Hmmm.

I find myself driving a little more carefully and less aggressive when driving the RX but not afraid to switch to manual and drop a gear. Partly because watching my MPGs has become a sickening obsessive game since this is the first car that I've owned with an MPG display and gauge. The other part being that its a really nice car! If anything people are jerks because I'm not driving fast enough haha. In my Toyota Matrix since its my beater, its pedal to the floor most of the time and I find my self being more aggressive squeezing out as much as I can outta the 4 banger 130hp engine.

That black ford will do it every time. The toll road has been paid for and there is no longer a toll booth. Not too many toll roads around here anymore. I still like to be courteous especially in the US where every second vehicle driver has a gun........yikes!!
Cheers,
Jim
