I'll put medium grade in our ES's, but always premium in the RX and Caddy.

Actually it may void the warranty if you don't meet the Octane requirements. Brand doesn't matter

I run premium in my RX and my IS -250. I even try to put shell V-power in most of the time.

Costco Premium here. And I add a bottle of Techron every 3-5K miles.

What does that bottle of Techron do?

its the stuff added to chevron gasoline, an additive, that is supposed to keep the inner parts of the engine free of gunk

Techron is one of the best fuel system cleaners out there IMHO. Costco gas may not have the best quality/detergents (had issues with our 05RX using solely costco gas) and using Techron does keep injectors and fuel pickup cleaner. Of course your mileage may vary.

I only use chevron 91. No other brand of gas has ever been in my cars

like RSFX said "you just get decreased performance and mpg numbers. not a big deal. that said, its premium for me".

engine was tuned to run most efficiently with 91+ octane fuel. In owners manual, notes to use 87 Octane fuel only when 91+ is not available but to refill with 91+ when it becomes available.

Actually there have been 4 RX's.

Use Regular at your own peril and don't complain if you get engine damage and Lexus tell you it isn't covered.
