Many people like the GS interior.
Those are not the main seat controls. Those are for the rear passengers/driver to easily move the seat forward and backward so they dont have to (impossibly) reach over to the side of the seat.
I think it will look better after the tape is removed from the dash

I like the simple design of the dash. I don't like cars that have 100 buttons to make you feel like a pilot, too confusing. It looks like it will have the HUD, look to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. Also looks like Lexus is going to fall in line with the other manufacturers and put an analog clock in the GS, I think that's the tape between the vents. The GS got an excellent right up as far as it's performance and handling, major improvement. Hope it helps with the sales.

IMO, interior doesn't have to be techy to look cool. It has to have a nice streamline and well arranged buttons. Not to mention each to reach buttons so you don't have to lean over to press it.
As far as wooden steeing wheels, mine is not slick at all, in fact, I have a better grip on it than the leather around it. I just made a sudden stop and turn today and controlling the steering wheel was very responsive.
