Default RX450H Longevity / Long term roadtest anyone ?

I am seriously considering purchasing a RX450H but was just wondering if there are any long term reviews - I know the model is quite young, but apart form the review below - cant seem to find too much...

BTW: This forum is great - everyone is polite and it is refreshing !

i've bought my 2010 RX450h back in aug/09 (model year 1 for the 3RX). no problems with reliability, and it's been solid. sure there are a few minor problems, but nothing serious that would lead me to doubt the long term reliability of the vehicle.

i personally recommend the RX450h, and i'm sure plenty of 450h owners here will agree with me.

intermittent squeaks from steering column...browse the 3RX forum, you'll see the complaints that some of us have.

Mine has been pretty flawless since November of 2010.

I own the 450h and to be honest there is a little leap of faith buying a car with this much technology. But, my brother has had excellent luck with his Prius. Our prior Lexus models have been very problem free ... so I am still optimistic. Here is a site were a few owners (myself included) are reporting what is happening with their 450h's in the reliability area.

www.truedelta.com

If you are a member of ConsumerReports.org, they report the reliability of the 2010 in detail from their last member survey. Almost all categories are excellent, but they give it an average reliability rating ... it didn't make sense to me ... I do have a vague memory of them saying somewhere that new cars get lower ratings until they get more data on them.

I had my RX400 since 06, traded in for the RX450, they have engineered the car well, the 450 has me impressed all over again. I did order about every option though. This car may last longer than me........

Have had mine since October 2009 and the only problem I had was the gas cap needed to be replaced under warrantee. No squeaks, rattles, or anything else. I was at the dealer last week for my 20,000 mile service and they had a certified used 450h with a sticker of $49,900 -- that made me feel good!!

The only problem I had with mine was the head light sensor failed, which is that little camera looking thing below the rear view mirror. But that was due to operator error, not me. When they were applying the window tint on the visor part of the windshield, I saw the guy twisting the rear view mirror around. He must have broke the cable to that sensor. Fortunately, the car was still new and the dealer replaced it under warranty.

My brothers RX450H has been nothing less than perfect. No issues, he's put on about 25,000 miles. Ok, so I've put on 20,000 miles on his car, while he's only put 5,000.... LOL

It's been reliable, we've had no problems to date. We had one rattle for about a week, and it disappeared and hasn't appeared for a few month now.

Hyprevish, you must have a very generous brother!! I don't know if my brother would let me drive all over the place in his vehicle. Then, again, I don't know if I'd let him drive all over the place in my Lexus! LOL!

Back to topic: So far no rattles except for the gear shifter is getting squeaky or rubbing. Ironic, since this was one of the things I was really impressed with on the 2010 RX for the first nine months, which was the silky smooth way that the shifter moved back and forth.
Oh, well!

He doesn't drive much cause he lives in the city, so he rather let me use it where it's safe while I give him my RX300 to drive in the city where it's spent most of it's life anyways. The main reason I put 20k miles on his car....LOL is cause we take lot's and lot's of road trips (to visit family) some in his rx450h and some in my rx300. Each at least 2200 miles, sometimes up to 4000 miles and he does't like driving much, and well I love driving plus I get us everywhere much faster

I was reading the cars you've owned in your signature and the miles you've driven.

Do you have a clue what PARK means ???
Glad you're enjoying them so much. I like driving too.

Hahah. I'm not familiar with that term. In fact, I've never heard of that. I'm guessing that's what the "P" is for on the gear lever. Wow, I learn new things every day. I should probably try that "P" some day. LOL
