New RX 450h - First Time Lexus Customer!
No doubt, I agree 100%, all new cars are pretty reliable these days. Automotive technology have come a long way since 10 years ago. Much like the Japanese companies copying other country's automotive technology years ago, now other car companies have learned from the Japanese as far as relaibility is concerned. Lexus and Toyota are still top 5 or top 10 in most relaibility surveys, but they are no longer the perennial #1 like thye use to be.
Yes, it's definitely on the gold side. In some lighting, it's a light warm champagne color with almost blush colored undertones, and in other lighting it's quite gold. I adore it! I parked next to a silver RX the other day and the difference in color was striking. It's a beautiful, sophisticated color and I'm really happy that my dealer happened to have it on the lot because I wouldn't have chosen it had I not seen it in person.
So I just filled up my very first tankful of gas. What a joy that was, lol. My Explorer used to cost $80+ to fill up, and I was lucky to get 375 miles on a tank full. New car gave me 480+ miles on the first tank full, and $50 to fill up (I was curious about the tank size compared to the old car). WOOT!
I ended the first tank of gas at 28.1 average mpg (per car's "after refueling" gauge). Not bad since there's less than 500 miles on the car. Our mileage improved considerably after the Prius was broken in (5k miles, or so) so I know that the same will hold true for the RX. 30mpg+, here I come!
I still haven't taken the time to customize all my settings and read through the manual for NAV, etc., which is a crime! Hoping for a quiet weekend so that I can set up the car just as I like it and learn how to use everything. I'm sure that I have only touched the surface of what the car can do.
SO SO SO happy with this vehicle, I can't even tell you! And hubby loves being co-pilot so that he can give me tips on driving style to max out mileage. He's consistently getting 57+mpg (often over 60mpg) on the Prius. In many ways it's like learning to drive again - very different driving style if you want to max out mileage.

Congratulations EricaD! You will love, love, love this car. We've had our RX450h for a little over a year now and we are still thrilled with it. It is roomy, comfortable and gets great mileage. We often have 4 sets of golf clubs in the trunk, which it handles with no problem.
Our experience with our Lexus dealer has been great as well. This was our third Lexus and it never ceases to amaze me how good the dealership experience is. We recently had an Acura MDX and TL and Acura does not even come close.
I just traded my TL in for a CT200h (soon to be our 4th Lexus) yesterday because I don't need a bigger car for work and my back seats never get used anyway. (Plus whenever we go anywhere as a family we all want to take the RX
It should arrive in a few days and we are pretty excited!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

Stormforge, how does the CVT in the GS450h sound like, if it sounds like the RX450h, then its not too sporty. I had a 08 GS350, that car was a big disappointment, it spend more time in the shop than on the road. There was mutliple rattles in the dash and in the roof that the dealers cannot fix.
2001 Dodge Ram 3500 - 1.4-Million-Mile Cummins
The Eternal Diesel Truck

Tweet | The word "power" has many different meanings. The one that first comes to mind is strength, or force, which is measured in quarter-mile times, GVWR limits, and dyno results. Another component of power is the ability to act, and this is measured in long-term dependability like tonnage hauled and miles driven without a major breakdown. Diesel Power recently came across a textbook example of the latter definition.
The Truck and Owner Operator Team
This 1.4-million-mile truck is an '01 Dodge Ram 3500 purchased new in late 2000. It was ordered with two-wheel drive, an NV5600 six-speed manual transmission, and a 4.10 rear axle ratio in the Dana 80. The engine is a 24-valve 5.9L Cummins with a VP44 fuel injection pump. The rotary VP44 is a cross between older mechanical designs and newer electronic computer-controlled injection systems. A major piece to the million-mile puzzle is having the right driver. Howard Clayton of Waterloo, Iowa, is a 30-year veteran of John Deere Co. and drove Class 8 trucks before buying this pickup to haul camping trailers for Bennett Transport. Working together, truck and driver pulled more than 360 units from Indiana to western outlets across the United States. He stated that more than 65 percent of the truck's total miles were accumulated under heavy load, and while making him money. He has complete records of the maintenance and accurate logs of all the mileage.
The Maintenance
If you want million-mile longevity out of a diesel, you either want to work on it yourself, or find a shop that you trust-and use it exclusively. For example, Forrest Cunningham of Cunningham Performance LLC located in Hallsville, Missouri, was the only mechanic who worked on this Dodge. For a truck with 1.4 million miles, the repairs were relatively minor and included an injection pump, a clutch, several batteries, multiple belts and hoses, two sets of front wheel bearings, two-cylinder head gaskets, many lift pumps, two water pumps, one remanufactured vacuum pump, a power steering pump, a complete set of universal joints, a new belt tensioner, and a fan clutch. It's amazing how many of the parts went basically untouched, including the turbo, Dana 80 rear axle, and the transmission.

Anyway, I am sure that you're gonna love and enjoy your new Lexus! Welcome to the Club!
The tank on the RX, I believe, is 19.5 gallons. But I'm sure that the short drive to and from work and around town is what brings my gas mileage down. My drive to work is only 6 miles each way. Now, when I've taken it on trips, I've gotten as much as 350 miles out of the tank.
