Default I'm coming home...

Hey everyone,

If you guys remember, I had a 2007 RX350, got into a terrible accident in Feb '11, rolled over twice. Partner and I climbed out just fine; we actually started fighting in the RX while being suspended upside down trying to unbuckle our seatbelts. No injuries, a bruise on his arm from the side curtain airbag deployment. All safety features worked exactly as advertised.

I had been following the new 2011 Lexus CT 200h for about a year before its release in March '11, which incidentally, happened to be a few weeks after my RX got totaled. Of course, I got lucky and managed to snag a new 2011 Lexus CT 200h Starfire Pearl fully loaded except for PCS/radar cruise control a month and two days after my car accident, status-post the horrible earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan the week prior. Now, availability is horrible, and my partner was considering switching to a Lexus CT as well, but we couldn't locate any on any dealer lots.

It looks like tomorrow another opportunity to add another Lexus hybrid to the fleet has presented itself.

We will be adding a 2010 Lexus RX450h AWD, w/ luxury, comfort, towing, HDD navi packages, and around 20,000 miles for $47,000, CPO.

Buying used from the same dealer I got my CT from, excellent customer service (Vista Lexus) from Larry Ellis.

It's gonna feel good to be back in a larger, but very fuel efficient crossover/SUV. I'm definitely excited and we managed to get this below wholesale value. It's gonna feel good to finally be able to call ourselves a Lexus-exclusive family; we got rid of our 2007 BMW Z4 (great performing car, but German overengineering complicates repairs + poor reliability of German makes in general) + trading in a 2008 Honda Element for this vehicle.

Anyways, it's good to be back in the RX forums. Missed you guys!

Matt, welcome back. I'm so glad the 350 served you well in the accident. Congrats on your CT and 450h. I've had a chance to drive the CT, I definitely liked its sportiness. You'll love the 450h. How are you going to pick which one to drive

Please take pictures of both side by side. That'll be cute And better luck this time around with the RX.

Amazing story, glad to hear you survived and sounds like without much damage to your personal beings. I think you will be happy having two different Lexus models versus the same. I looked at the CT when they came out, nice car, just not enough features for my spoiled *ss.

Good Luck and please post pics of the two Lexus'.

It actually does do better than 40 MPH

Ah, because the CT has less than half the HPs as the 450h.

C'mon X, both vehicles have their place and purpose. Let's welcome mattom to the group.

HAHAHAHHAHHAAHA. You guys are funny. Definitely two different cars for two different purposes. I have to live with the fact that the CT is a four banger and a tiny one at that. i get around 47 mpg consistently.

Looking forward to being able to lug the dogs around in their kennels again. Couldn't do that in my CT. Too small.

I can appreciate the CT for what it is...but to me, the RXh makes the most sense in efficiency and power.

RXh versus HSh
you trade 38% of power for 16% efficiency gain

RXh versus CT
you trade 55% of power for 40% efficiency gain

account for size and utility, and the HS really has no game. I can still see why people would buy the CT

Matt, that is horrible about your accident, but I'm glad you and your partner are both fine. And you're still smart enough to get a pair of new Lexuses to replace your old one. I love my RX 450h and if I were going to get a second smaller vehicle, the CT 200h would be on my list.

Welcome Matt, My partner and I purchased a 2011 RX350 and we love it, it is very comfortable on long trips, we are considering purchasing an electric vehicle for our 2nd car since we have a very short 5 mile commute 1 way to work $12,500 in tax rebates makes it very appealing also.
