I took the RX out this afternoon to head to the supermarket. We got hit with like 17 inches here in MA, and it's still coming down at a good pace. Roads were empty, plowed but not that great, and many streets were clearly not plowed within several hours. I locked the differential and went right through, and over 25 mph it held steady. The Michelins are great too. I was impressed, it was really the first time I've really put the RX through its paces in the snow.
So who else is out there today, how'd you RX perform?
It sounds like you got nailed up there. I was out today but the storm skipped us and only gave us about two inches. The RX handled the bare roads with ease!!!! I am heading up to Philadelphia tomorrow. Did they get much up there?
I drove in our snow today. When I headed to work, the roads hadn't been plowed yet. The snow was greasy and rather slippery feeling, but the RX 450h in hybrid snow mode was awesome. Never once did I feel that I would get stuck, even when I had to make a right hand turn up an incline from a stopped position at a light.
Sorry guys, my 450h and I stayed home today. It was about 8" of nice white fluffy stuff. Roads were clear in no time. I have taken him on hills with a few inches of unplowed snow before. No slipping or sliding and I don't use snow mode. There's still two more months of winter left so I'm bound to be out there in a storm in the near future.
There's still plenty of ice and layer's of crunch ice/snow on top of the ice here in North Georgia. I went to the store today and just going slow hills and stops weren't a problem. I didn't change modes but did notice the yellow traction light lit up several times.
We got at least 6" last night, but plowers crews did a great job on highways here in NJ this time around. However, in my neighborhood, streets were still covered with a thin layer of packed snow around 10 am in morning when I drove wife's RX to work. It did beautifully with "ETC snow mode" on.
One question, what does RX do differently with "ETC snow mode" on? I do not think that engage 4 wheel drive, since there is another AWD lock button. TIA!

I am down here in MA, we got hit with about 18" of wet snow. I tested out the RXh in the snow like I do with all my new cars, find a empty parking lot and see what it can do. The RX is actually not too bad with the Michelins on, not as good as my old GX470, that SUV was a monster in the snow. I tried to spin out the rear of the RX, but the stability system wouldn’t let me spin it out too much. I think this is one of the best stability on the market for driving in the slick stuff. It’s a very intrusive system which is bad if you are into spirited driving, but this intrusive stability system can vastly improve the RX's reactive based AWD system. I still think a AWD system with power to all 4 wheels all the time is a better system in the snow, but Lexus / Toyota have been using this reactive based AWD for about 5 years now and they have been making improvement on it year after year. It is getting to the point where it can perform almost as well as a permanent AWD system.

Cruiter, I visit the Blairsville area about twice a year up in Northern Georgia. Such a lovely place with those beautiful mountain views! You guys are really getting the snow this time around!
