Need help from you experts - Last night when I got home, I heard a strange noise from our brand new RX 350, which was parked in the garage by my wife a few hour earlier. The car was sitting there OFF for quite a while, a very obvious humming noise, like an electric motor was running, came from bottom of the car (toward to the rear end). I turned the car on (did not start the engine) and the noise went away, did not come back after the car was shut off. Just wondering what was that noise and if it is serious problem.

I also have a new RX and I remember reading in the owners manual that that will happen and not to be alarmed. I think it has to something to do with the fuel system. Not really sure about that, so I'm gonna have to find where I read it.

 

completely normal. My RXh has sounds coming from the front and rear, like a buzzing humming motor sound. It indeed as to do with the emissions control

 

Whew! This just happened to me about 5 minutes ago. Just went in the garage for something else and heard it. My husband thought it sounded like the fuel pump or something. Sounds like he wasn't too far off. Of course, the forum is the first place I ran to

Yes it's normal for Toyota/Lexus cars. I have both cars do the same thing. Freaked me out at the beginning thou.
