Default Update:my ride

So it seem that there isn't anything that can be done with the rx330 engine noise, specifically the ticking noise. I was told it's normal for the rx. I find the noise is annoying. At idling, the ticking is loud and when it's cold outside. If i knew about this type of imperfection with lexus, i probably wouldn't buy a lexus at all. My rx is a lexus certified pre-owned. Does anyone else have this too or it's just the luck of the draw?

I wonder if the newer model rx have this engine annoying noise too ...

turn up the volume on your radio, it should drone out the noise.

Wasn't the ticking noise on a TSB? Sticky injectors?

my Rx has zero idling noise after 5+ years of driving it. I think yours is an isolated case. Remember when buying a used car, don't expect it to be all perfect.

My 11 year old RX is quiet at idle, and you can't even tell it's running. I have to look down at the tach sometimes to see if it's still running. LOL

Mine is quiet as a church mouse at 125K... how many miles do you have on your 330?

Engine noise is okay, but not the ticking. Find good mechanic and ask him to check everything. I had ticking noise on my previous dodge caliber, problem was alternator and couple pulleys. On my RX330 with 225000 miles on it i can hear only engine working noise but nothing ticking or clicking

Not a peep out of my 04 RX330 at idle. This is not, as your dealer implied, "normal". Their tech is just not skilled enough to find it or they don't want to address the problem. Take it to another dealer and see what they say.

It's possible the ticking noise is caused by carbon buildup in the combustion chambers. Try a can of BG 44K. Can't hurt and may help.

Mines a Canadian built and it TICKS. It's too far out of warranty for the TSB, so I'll live with it.
