Default Newbie Buying RX350 - Need Some Input

Hi all,

I am currently in the market for RX350 (2010 or 2011 model). After doing some extensive research (Club Lexus is a really good forum), I still have some questions on the 'marketing support' programs on these models:

2010 model - there is $2000 dealer incentives going on, does anyone know will that carry over to Dec as well? Any special lease program as well?

2011 model - I know there is a special lease program for 2011 model (The Dec to Remember) which will end on Jan 3, 2011. Is to too late to order the 2011 model from the factory and take advantage of this program?

Based on the deals posted by fellow forum members, seems like dealers are offering aggressive price on the 2010 models. However, I am not sure whether I can still find any 2010 in Southern California (prefer AWD since I go to ski quite often - Big Bear Mtn.).

Should I buy/lease the new Lexus through Costco or Carsdirect program? Or it is better to deal with dealers directly? Any recommendations in So. California?

Sorry for asking all these questions. I am a newbie here (switching over from MB) and would really appreciate if some one can shed the light here.

Thanks again!

I ordered my 2011 since I couldn't find one with adaptive cruise, The dealer told me $500 over invoice - The Costco price was cheaper in my area! As far as I know you can only take advantage of whatever deals are going on when your car actually arrives if you order one!

you probably wont be able to take advantage of dec to remember if you special order, but that doesnt mean you wont get a good deal when it gets here. The wait is usually 3-4 months, so by that time, its going to be their Spring promotion, I forget what its called, Spring into action or something, haha

anyways, Id be surprised if you can still find a 2010 model at this time...but it doesnt hurt to call around.

Thanks all,

Looks like I am stuck with whatever 2011 RX is left on the floor then. :-(

Besides the speical lease program, is there anything (incentives) I should aware of when dealing with dealers? Any recommendations/advice?

Thanks again!

There's a 1,000 'conquest cash' promo if you trade-in or turn in a lease of a MB, Bmw, Acura, Audi or Caddy for a lease/purchase of a new Lexus (good til Jan 2). The 2,000 marketing support on a new 2010 RX is also good til Jan 2 or until supplies last. I know that Longo no longer has any more 2010 Awd RXs left on their lot. Good luck.

+1 on truecar.com, it will tell you what the dealer's real price is. There is a $2,000 assistance from Lexus Corp to the dealer on all 2010 RX's which will lower the cost of a 2010. We bought one three weeks ago and there was an immediate $3,000 difference in what the dealer was offering between a 2010 and a 2011. If you keep your cars awhile it may be worth it to get a 2010 and save cash up front. We keep cars at least 10 years so depreciation isn't that important to us. You'll just have to do the math and see which makes more sense to you. Lexus doesn't overproduce so 2010's won't last very long. Special ordering a Lexus is not a smooth process, they aren't set up for it like BMW and MB; be forewarned if you go down that route.

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much for the sharing. I feel much prepared to deal with the dealers now. :-)

Btw, one last question, do you know what is currently money factor and residual value on the 2010 and 2011 RX? I may be thinking to lease instead of purchase. I've got some 'rough ideas' on the 2011 based on the adv from 'Dec to Remember' but would to know the exact no. so that I can do the math beforehand.

Thanks again. I hope I can be driving the RX very soon. :-)
