Default Litter/Trash Basket

I need a small litter basket for the car (for discarded candy wrappers, parking stubs, toll tickets, etc.) In previous cars, I've used a floor-sitting type, either on the floor under the centre part of the dashboard, or on the central "hump" behind the front seats.

There is no floor space in the front centre in the 2010 RX, and it's an awkward reach to the centre floor area behind the front seats.

What do you folks do? I was thinking someone should design a small litter basket that would fit in the left and right front door pockets.

A "hanging" type litter basket/bag would look tacky, I would think.

I use the front door pockets. They are too small for anything else.

I bought a tan-colored "pouch" style litter bag that I keep in the front door pocket. Works great.

Sounds like this may be the best option, given the space limitations for a rigid litter basket. Would you have a photo, or a link to a photo, of such a pouch-style litter bag?

Where does one buy one (or two) of those things?

I've had mine for a few years, not sure where I got it. However, most auto supply stores (probably even Walmart, etc) will likely have something in stock that will work for you.

I use a car cofee mug with cover and leave it in the center console. It fits and works great. See example at

what about that space under the console. My wife puts a bos of kleenex type tissues down there which is handy but admittedly not pretty. Some sort of attractive box might work

Yes, that had occurred to me, however, access is a bit awkward. I may yet resort to that possible solution.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions!

I use an empty tissue box and keep it on the back seat floor behind the floor console. It is easy to reach.

I bought and really like this one from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I have attached to the passenger seat around the headrest, facing the back seat...easily reachable while driving.

I actually use a small square (nice wood) trash can that I got at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on the back floor. It fits right between the floor mats, so it's in a very convenient position for my two boys who generate most of the trash, and I find it's not hard to toss something back there myself. I only have to remove it when I have three people in the back seat.

I thought that's why the windows go down and back up with just one touch.
