Default RX-F discussion

With the ML63 AMG, X5M & X6, Cayenne Turbo and the FX50S it'd be really neat if Lexus came out with an RX-F, or even a GX-F. I could see the current body of the RX made to look pretty mean and performance oriented. What do you guys think, cool or not?

cool? yes. possible? no

the RX is the epitomy of a cushy ride. numb steering and leaning on curves are two trademarks of the RX, so to come out with an RX-F would go against the core values of the model.

The IS is a different story because it was sport oriented from the start, same with the GS. They might come out with F sport parts, but I think that would be as far as it goes. plus the age range of the RX buyer wouldnt really warrant this.

possibility is zero. the rx chassis is far from that capibility, and it would make zero sense. the car is never about performance, making it into a rxf and it will probably crash before the first turn

until lexus can do a full force gsf, no way

I don't understand why people want to get an SUV to drive it like a sports car. I like driving my mom's RX the way it is, nice and easy and with a very smooth ride that I can feel like I'm floating on a cloud. It would be cool if Lexus offered it for the market, but I wouldn't be interested in it.

if someone wants to convert a regular RX into a RX-F, it's possible. as long as you throw enough money at something, anything is possible.

There is no way that it will happen.....EVER.......they need to work on a GS-F first before a RX-F for sure.

With the economy in the toilet, don't expect this to be anywhere but in the world of imagination.

It's funny though that there were some auto news sites picking up the RX-F rumors. If they made such a model before the GS-F, I would say they'd gone mad and completely lost the plot. That being said, if they decided to make F-variants of everything, then that might happen. I do think the RX line could be differentiated further with styling options and packages, subtypes etc., but an RX Sport would be better like the LS Sport before an F model.

I wonder how well the RX Sport pkg option is selling.
I wouldn't buy it because I want a smoothest ride possible in the RX but that's me.

The sport package isn't bad. I'm not into a mushy-gushy ride. I prefer the feeling of control I have in mine. The one thing Lexus should have included was the air suspension like I had in my '04.

Re Lexus making an RX-F, I'm not feeling it. Save it for the cars, not an SUV. Most people buy the RX for the comfortable ride.

The US economy is in the toilet, not everywhere else (except for Greece).

I have the RX Sport, and found the standard ride and handling similar to the regular one. I've been told that the performance enhancements don't really become apparent until it is pushed hard, and since they work in conjunction with the electronic stabilization, then the activation would be typical Lexus seamless and non-intrusive, which is how you'd want it to come on anyway.
