Just google dimensions.

the 3rd gen is longer by an inch and a half
Wheel base is an inch longer
Width is an inch and a half wider
and weighs 300 more lbs.

If it is larger overall in all dimensions how does it have far less cargo space? 85 vs 80

Bigger outside and smaller inside! Also vehicle overall shape is a big influence.
For example the Mazda CX9 is longer than the Kia Telluride, but due to body design and shape the Kia has much more room inside.
