Just curious
I got my 2010 RX 450h back in August. I really wanted a car with every option, but the dealer said they never get those cars and discouraged me from doing a custom order. I regret that now. I was wondering if anybody has added or know if the following can be added by the dealer.
1. Power folding mirrors
2. Parking sensors
3. Heads up display

No, I don't play soccer!
nyranger74, welcome to CL. As far as I know, park assist can be added, not sure about HUD and power folding mirrors. I didn't add park assist to my special order but the dealer told me it can be installed when mine comes in.

I too have heard of people adding parking sensors, in fact I over heard a conversation at the dealership about that subject.

I guess the salesperson wanted a quick commission. I made a mistake by not ordering it custom. I also wanted the Enform system which was not available.

Dealer install invariably means increased cost as well unfortunately. Some items, are factory install only, which I believe is the case with the HUD.
We were just discouraged too from doing a custom order, but since we have several months before our baby arrives, there was no sense of urgency, so our salesperson didn't pressure us further for an immediate sale.

Nyranger74, I'm sorry that happened to you. Most of the summer many of us on here were complaining about the ordering process for the new RX. My family began to try to place an order sometime in the spring, March or April. I forgot at what point the dealership finally got the order accepted but I seem to remember the vehicle was not built until August or September. The Pre-collision option was the hold up as they were not building any RX350 with that option until late summer. I think the 450h was already available with PC but due to our driving habits it would have been a waste of money for us to purchase the h. I'm sure most buyers don't want to wait, but we are used to enduring the wait. Between me, my parents and grandparents I don't recall but two vehicles we were able to find what we wanted on the lot or located by the dealership on another lot. Waiting can be good; in the case of the 2010 RX some incentives became available that actually effected the deal in a positive way for us. Incentives I would have likely not know about if not brought to our attention by the dealership.
