What was Lexus Thinking? Floormats color
Just picked up my Matador Red/Parchment interior RX450h yesterday. The only complaint is that the floormats (front and rear) are black and the cargo area is ivory. My salesman was off so i couldn't ask him why. Is this normal?
Thanks for confirming. I got an email from the salesman and he told me that the reason they are black is because the ivory gets dirty easily. If this was the case they should have used all black carpeting instead of the current ivory.
My dealer told me that Lexus recieved complaints about the lighter color floor mats getting dirty too fast. I explained to them that even a cheap Corrolla
can have "color-keyed" floor mats.
The dealer ordered a new set to my color (grey) and it took about a week or two to get them. They are nice and I didn't have to pay for them.

I have ivory floor mats in both my Lexus cars, and they do show the dirt readily, of course, but I greatly prefer them to black. There are many places where aftermarket carpets are available in any color, cut to fit any car, and you can even have a Lexus Logo or your own initials added if you want, so if the black is not the right look (I would hate it) replacements other than from Lexus are readily available, in both carpet or in rubber/vinyl for the winter.
I don't think that's the case here. I believe they are actually responding to customer complaints. The black mats actually work with the Parchment interior, I just wasn't expecting them initially, and was surprised.
Tungsten w/black interior w/ black mats... no problems here.
My mother ended up liking my RX so much she went out and bought the same build in Truffle w/Parchment interior and dark mats. Definitely more noticeable.
Lexus doing their typical cost cutting, though I've had cars with light interiors and light mats. They show dirt very easily and get beat up in about a month.

Fewer colors = lower costs.
You can definitely tell areas in the RX where cost was the driving factor. Being in product development/marketing I understand why they did what they did but as a customer in some instances it's a little disappointing.
Than why did they have matching beige floor mats in the LS460?
