Getting into new RX, some lease questions...
Howdy folks, I'm coming over from the 2IS group. My mom is ready for a new SUV and it's looking like the RX is first on the list. I have volunteered to be the one who finds the vehicle and makes the transaction.
Basically, it's all going to come down to price. Her current 2005 MDX leased for $500 a month, which seems to be the target for the new RX. With normal drive off fees on a FWD, nav and premium packaged-eqipped model (no other options), do you think $500/mo (out the door) is realistic? I believe the sticker would be around $42k and the invoice around $38k. I saw on Edmunds the regional lease program was $499/mo, but they took it off their site recently and I don't even know which options that included. What is the current Lexus program? Are lesser-equipped RX's hard or easy to find? I live in the heart of L.A., so I am assuming selection should be good when I email all area dealers with my needs and wants.
I'd appreciate any responses, especially those from California or Los Angeles.

Spotted a $469/mo lease by me. It was part of a pre-December to Remember promotion. I didn't read the fine print but based on prior RX leases, the down payment will probably be around $3,500. Even after adding a few options like nav, $500 is realistic. Good luck in your search.

Just an opinion. All "specials" are designed to do is to bring you into the showroom. Sure, you can 'fit' into your monthly payments goal, if you ready to pay more upfront, which defeats the purpose of leasing.
Better lease deals come with lower money factors (interest rate) and higher residuals. Of course, negotiated sale price completes the picture, but the dealers are not flexible with the first 2 in most cases.
So, check if Lexus (not your local dealer) has special lease programs in your area first and know what is the current MF.
Take invoice as base, and plug the other numbers into a lease calculator.

Saw the $469/mo rate again in the New York Times auto section today, part of a local dealer promotion. MSRP was $41K and change with premium package, no nav. I'm not sure if it's AWD or FWD - no mention in the ad anywhere. Total of about $3,600 down. Overall this is $30 less a month than the summer promotion.
