I also would like to add that there is at least 2 mpg difference between Auto A/C on/off. I typically have it turned off, unless the outside temp is above 86.

A lot of folks justified not spending the extra money for the Hybrid, but the A/C is just one benefit of the Hybrid. Everything is electric, including the A/C. There is not even one belt attached to the engine driving 'anything' at all so when the A/C is on it draws no power at all from the engine. Plus it comes with a host of other features as standard such as VDIM.

Just something to consider for potential buyers.

There are reasons Hybrid makes the great mileage. They try all the ways to save energy and make Hybrid move without wasting too much output from the egnine, and only make engine work when it's needed.

I drive mostly with all 4 windows down, but when its hot and humid, everything feels sticky, so AC is the only option, really.

LOL. I agree with you. A/C is necessary. Well, 16.8-18 MPG isn't bad out there.

I live in the NYC area and use the car for local driving. I always strive to keep that ECO on and generally use the auto a/c feature. So far I still seem to get in the 20mpg range. I have an AWD 350

Welcome to the forum.

I guess my big foot is the problem.

My driving is usually in Manhattan and other boroughs, less than 20% of freeway (I don't think FDR and westside highway are really the "highway", they're usually jammed and traffic. ) )

Thanks ! I've been a Lexus man for years but I thought since I actually bought a NEW one (I have a '93 SC300 Manual), I'd look for an RX350 forum and here I am

Yeah I would never consider the FDR or Westside a real highway since you have to stop every 10 blocks or so (on a GOOD day !) for some timed light

I average about 21 combined town/highway driving using regular gas. The first car I got that "required" premium was an '03 Acura. Not being made of money, I researched the "need for premium" issue and the overwhelming consensus was "it's not necessary, and about the only thing it's going to affect is your 0-60 time". So, I used regular. When I got my 07 RX, I researched again and found the same info, so I stayed with regular and I am doing the same with my '10 RX. It may affect the mpg slightly but not .25/gal worth.

Well, it seems to be some kind of profit-seeking or mechanical reasons to appoint the premium octane as the primary gas.

Btw, you Hybrid rxers shouldn't come here to vote.
I am very interested to see what the hybrid are knocking out. I keep waiting for figures that will justify me paying the extra cost of trying something new.

IMO, I'd look at the hybrid if you're a city driver. My daily commute is 8 miles one way with no speed limit above 35 MPH, moderate traffic, traffic lights and a few stop signs. In my 04, I'm only getting about 16-17 MPG. I decided to go hybrid after 11 years because I'd rather sit at a light/in traffic burning no gas. Maintenance is less, so is insurance. And yes, the extra 10+ MPG will be a bonus but is not the main motivation. I'd say it's worth it.

I know everyone doesn't like it but kudos to Lexus for adding the ECO light
