After 3000 miles My RX350 got 23.1 mpg on average. most are high way drive. much better than my expected.

Mostly stop and go on the lovely toll road of dallas. After 3,000 miles averaging 19.6 MPG and 26.7 MPH

best tank yet was 26.5

haven't had less than 23.8

computer calculation is usually a tad less manual calculation

previous vehicles have always overestimated

Yeah i wish.... i never go out of the eco and i only get about 16.5 in a city drive

4700 miles to date with a 19.3 avg.

Highest average for a trip, for about 300 mile, 27 mpg- all highway, cruise control- awesome day.

All of you guys are getting better mileage than I am. (Mine's FWD.) I get between 21.5 and 22 on the highway, assuming that the trip computer is accurate. This is less than my '07 got. In town mileage is about 20 (suburban driving), about the same as my '07 got. I've got about 3000 miles on the new one.

I average 18 mpg and 20 mph after 6000 miles. Mostly heavy city traffic in a daily commute. I do not care for Eco light. Still, I average 3 mpg better than I did in my 05 MDX.

Stop&Go: average 13-15

Highway: average 23-26

6600 miles so far.

18.9 mpg on a mixture of highway/city driving

I drive mostly around town with lots of stop and go. I was amazed that on my first tank of gas from the dealer I did actually get a little over 18mpg. After that I started to fill up at a local Shell station here in Dallas. I notice that the pump says, "may contain up to 10% Ethanol". Using Shell Premium gas with 10% Ethanol (always from the same station), I have seen it go as high as 16mpg and as low as 13mpg, but I would say the average is about 15mpg. I have occasionally tried a couple other stations but I have not been able to reach 18mpg again since that first tank from the dealer--maybe they can get good gas without the Ethanol?

By the way, I always manually calculate my mileage and it is always lower than the Lexus trip computer--don't believe the numbers from the trip computer they are always over inflated. Each time I fill up, I just divide the miles driven on the odometer trip meter by the number of gallons that I fill up with, and then I always reset the trip meter--I believe this is the most accurate method to calculate your mileage.

10% Ethanol is the trend everywhere...



I also calculate MPG manually... I got the same results as you said above, lower than RX's trip meter.

Just curious if Lexus also suggests 450h's 2GR-FXE Atkinson cycle engine should use Premium gas... (I don't want to argue if RX has to use 93 or not, and don't want to hijack this thread...) But it's interesting to know if 91/93 can really make better MPG than 89 or lower.

I have experimented with both 91 octane (that's the premium in my state) and 89 octane with 10% ethanol. I found no appreciable difference at all on the gas mileage between the two. Thus, I have been using the 89 octaner on my LS460L and also on our new RX450h. I started out by using the 91 octane on the RX450h, but why pay 30 cents a gallon more for the 91 octane when 89does just as well?

For this point of view, I'd say so.

Well, it seems to be some kind of profit-seeking or mechanical reasons to appoint the premium octane as the primary gas.
