1) Why didn't Lexus make the RX's 3.5L engine direct-injection, like the one in the GS350, and give it dual exhaust? I'd love to drive a 303 hp RX!
2) HID headlights were part of the "Premium Pkg w/Add'l Options" on my '03 RX300, but not on the 2010 RX. I got the same pkg (no nav) on my 2010 RX and it has standard projector headlamps. Would love to have the Bi-Xenon HID headlamps w/dynamic auto leveling.....with the stock headlamps, is it possible to have them replaced with HID's and, if so, how expensive would it be? I'm wondering if it's worth it. Current headlights are OK...would just like the HID's but not willing to spend $$$$$ to get it. Strange Lexus would not offer those as part of the Premium (i.e non nav) package. You have to up to the Nav package to get alot of the things that could, IMOHP, have been offered with the Premium for folks who don't want Nav.
3) Voice activation operates my Bluetooth, but I can't operate the climate controls or radio (as you can in vehicles with Nav) by voice. If Lexus can make the Bluetooth phone system work with the voice activation system on vehicles without nav, is there some reason they can't fix it so you can operate the radio & AC with it as well? Is it a hardware issue?
4) Just curious...didn't the Lexus slogan used to be "The Passionate Pursuit of Perfection"? I note now the word "passionate" has been deleted. Any idea when/why this occurred?

I GUESS...
1.
a) Lexus used to rush the new model with the old engine to the market. You might see RX11 comes with better engine.
b) Prior to the debut, Lexus could only tune this engine with the best results to match the needs RX10 can handle. If RX10 wasn't public in March/2009 but the 3rd/4th quarter of 2009, you might see the different engine with new numbers.
2. You probably won't be able to replace easily. Dunno the real cost, but the price could be similar to install the after-market HIDs or more. I thought you would r...
The '03 PKG and '10 PKG could be varied. Even with teh same name, their contents can be huge different. For exmaple, MB will have '10ML350 next month, its Premium PKGs are totally different than '09.

About the engine, so far Lexus has only used the DI 3.5L in a rear wheel drive format.(or a RWD based AWD as seen in GS350AWD) For all we know there could be some component of its design (such as size) that is incompatible with transverse mounting.
As evidenced in Gen2 RX and Gen2 and 3 GS, they do like doing mid run engine refreshes. I think you could expect to see some form of more powerful RX in a few years.
On nav/bluetooth: Lexus really wants you to buy nav and they want you to have a reason to purchase it. Therefor they will limit some features.

To further answer question one, the DI motor is set up only for longitudinal applications.
