Default 2010 Lexus RX350 - Shock Replacement

Hi All,
2010 Lexus - Front and Rear shocks are very noisy. Is that job we can do at home.
Please let me know your thoughts. Do any one have List of Parts I will be changing.

Welcome to CL. This has been discussed many times.

The front of the vehicle has struts and you need to be an experienced and well equipped home mechanic to replace struts. It is a dangerous job as the spring must be compressed. You can get killed or severly injured if you do not know what you are doing or have the wrong equipment. You can also screw things up if you do not know what you are doing. It is not a job on which to learn how to work on your own car.
The rear has regular shock absorbers that have 2 bolts. They are easier to replace if you have the tools and the bolts are not rusted in place. I doubt you have the required tools or skills to perform this repair.

I recommend you locate a well regarded local independent repair shop. This is a routine job for any experienced mechanic as struts have been used on millions of vehicles for over 50 years.
You also need to have the entire suspension inspected to be sure nothing else needs to be replaced on this 16 year old vehicle. Lots of other things may be worn out.
Do not trust your own diagnosis. Let a pro inspect it.

you live in ontario with a 15 year old vehicle. every bolt will be a fight to remove if you don't have heat and an impact gun. I don't want to discourage anyone from DIY and learning but some of these suspension bolts are going to be tough to get off if they haven't been removed in years. you need at least 2 jack stands to be able to support the front and rear of the vehicle. plus a scissor jack to apply pressure when needed. breaker bar , long wrenches and a good torque wrench are required

I would agree with what clutchless said. OEM front shocks don't include the spring and youd have to be careful of brake and ABS lines not to damage them

I ordered 2 real shocks a few weeks ago and plan to DIY it on my wife's 2010.
One thing I noticed from my research is that when tightening the bolt, I can't just do it while the car is on a jackstand. I will need to put some weight on the wheels. One way to do that is to jack up the wheel hub to a certain level.

For the rear shocks, which only have one upper bolt and one lower bolt you can and should fully tighten them while on jackstands. It is almost impossible to reach the bolts when the tire is in place. There is no need to put weight on the rear suspension to tighten these bolts. It won't change any alignment settings etc.
Now the front struts are a completely different situation...

Thanks for all responses, I was looking in youtube and found its doable by me, with the help of my friend. Will update you once done.

Not to discourage you, but an easy job can be a bear at times. Patience and proper tools help. Start by using penetrant couple of days before and use 6point sockets or box wrenches. Don't round off the nuts/bolts by brute forcing and tilting the leverage points.

Salim has given you great advice.
I had a neighbor replace the front struts on a 13 year old Chrysler I once owned.
I hit all the nuts & bolts with penetrating oil for 3-days in a row before Fred started the job.
He said the job was easy, none of the nuts/bolts gave him any aggravation.
Penetrating oil and time to allow it to seep into the fittings and nuts helps tremendously.
