How reliable is the Rx?
Hi guys I’m looking into buying a used 2015 Rx350 Fsport. Not looking to spend more than 18k.
The ones I’m viewing have about 110k miles and another has 60k miles. Car fax shows a minor accident with no details- is there a way I get details on the repair or depth of accident?
So I own 14 LS which I baby and use mostly weekends. I’m looking for Rx350, I can daily and enjoy. Is there something I should look out for in terms of problems or features that are a must have? Anything helps look forward to hear from the Rx community

It is basically a Toyota Highlander with lipstick and as 2015 was the last model year for the 3rd generation, all the bugs had been sorted out and they are super reliable. An F-Sport has the 8 speed transmission which was new then and in those early days had some drivability issues, but they had software updates to resolve them. You need to drive these vehicles to see how you like the 8 speed vs the 6 speed. The only real suspension difference in the F-sport is stiffer shocks and struts.
The main thing with these transmissions both 6 and 8 speed for longevity is to change the fluid before 70,000 miles.
Always get an independent inspection of any potential used car purchase. You can use it to negotiate the price or rule out terrible cars.
If you have the VIN you can go the the Lexus DriversSite, join for free and after entering the VIN look up the dealer service history. https://support.lexus.com/s/article/...ew-my-ser-8226
I do this for all used Toyotas for Lexus. However the site is not as reliable as a Lexus and often does not work correctly.
If the accident damage was repaired through a dealer then it will show up here.
Be warned that the site is sometimes cranky about finding service histories.

To see the service history at Lexus Drivers do the following:
On the page that lists the car whose VIN you entered there will be a line that states
Vehicle Health Report
Learn More - click this box
Then on the next page it will state
My Service
On the right side it will state Service History
View History - click this box to see the service history
The it will slowly take you to a page you need to scroll down to see the service history
Each entry will be a line, click on the + at the side to see more about each entry

I have an 2015 Rx350 AWD that now has 189k miles and the only issue I notice is a weeping front timing cover that I semi-sealed with spray sealant.
I would say the 2013-2015 RX350 models with the 6 speed automatic transmission had been perfected and cured of most of the issues that can happen to the 3.5V6. The timing cover leak issues is more from what happen on the assembly line when the mating surfaces are not properly cleaned(or get contaminated) before the timing cover RTV application.
The early model 8-speed transmission in the 2013-2015 F-sport Rx350 models may have some shifting issues due to faulty TCM programming I believe, but are still reliable.

Excellent advice provided in the two posts above. Look for the timing cover oil weep -- it is not necessarily a deal-killer but you want to know if your vehicle has it so you can monitor it during your ownership. And do the series of three consecutive simple ATF drain-and-fills at least every 60,000 miles (some would say every 50,000 miles). No fluid in ANY vehicle is "lifetime". You greatly improve your chances of a long transmission lifespan with fresh ATF on a regular schedule, and it is very easy to DIY.

The only expensive common issues with the 2013-2015 V6 engine is the water pump and the weeping front timing cover. The timing cover weeping can be ignored usually.

my 2010 rx has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, in fact the rx has been the most reliable vehicle my family and my parents have owned as well and we've really only ever owned toyota/lexus. my parents have a 2007 and 2015 getting up there in miles and they have been trouble free. the 2007 needed a water pump, that's it. my 2010 also needed a water pump in 2024. it had the oil cooler line replaced under warranty years ago. and I replaced the left and right rear trailing arms because they were squeaking. The 2015 has been trouble free. between the 3 of those vehicles I can count on one hand the amount of non wear and tear items. proper maintenance goes a long way though, always completed the service milestones, using OEM fluids and parts and changing transmission fluid regularly as well.
