2010 RX350 liftgate problems
I have a 2010 RX350 and the liftgate is not working at all. I put my son’s bikes in the back and it wasn’t closing all the way so I gave it a push like I had done many other times without a problem. This time it wouldn’t close or lock at all. I messed with the lock and got it to close but the back open light on the dash stays on when the car is on and it thinks the door is open and the rear camera won’t display either. After the car is turned off the door shows open on the dash and it drains the battery. The liftgate will not work with the remote, button on dash or rear touchpad. The button in the glovebox is in the right position and I have tried disconnecting the battery. I had the door open the other day and somehow I did get it to close several times with the motor using the touchpad but I’m not sure how and it would not open. The lock was also moving with the door open using the lock and unlock buttons on the remote. The only way to open it now is from the inside. The struts wouldn’t hold the door open when it was cold prior to this happening so I just replaced them. Now if you try to close it you get the two beeps and nothing happens. When you drive the car it beeps the whole time and I have to disconnect the battery when not using it or it will die. So basically the car is unusable because of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Welcome to CL. You should first replace the rear hatch struts and hope that worn out struts are the problem. They are inexpensive, easy to replace and the most likely cause of this problem. Do that as instructed in this thread, which is the one above yours on the main index and report back if your problem is not resolved. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...n-closing.html
FYI many of us have purchased replacement rear struts from this site https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/?c...4aArFyEALw_wcB
