Default Adaptive headlights by pass

Guys, on our 2013 RX350, the message on the dash is on constantly, CHECK ADAPTIVE HEADALIGHTS, or something like that.

I bought used headlight leveling motors from ebay and that didnt help.
I just want the dash warning to go away. Is there a way around it?

Perhaps looping the wiring that goes to the headlight adjusting motor harness?

Did you try disconnecting your battery for minutes to see if it clears up?
The adaptive headlights were technically only on 2010-12 as that is the feature where they turned along with the steering wheel.
It appears you issue is the HID leveling sensor. The sensor itself is by the passenger side rear wheel. See these threads below for more information. It may have a wiring problem or be broken etc.
FYI
AFS stands for adaptive front-lighting system, or headlights that swivel in the direction a vehicle is turning to illuminate more of the road where the vehicle is heading instead of straight ahead. Adaptive front lighting is a term used by several manufacturers, including Honda, Mazda, Toyota and others.

AFS then should do with steering position (turn) and not the leveling sensor.
See this thread and post 11 as it takes you to threads with photos of the auto leveling system and adjustment instructions and to more related threads. I hope this helps.

Just pointing out a possibility ... It could be that the confusion due to leveling [up/down] focus [left/right], the used headlamp assembly was incorrect? Did you compare the old vs new-to-me. This might have been a pre-existing/pre-created problem too.

Can you please state the exact message on the screen and when does it come on.

Are you getting any error code that you tried to clear? If so please list that.

I am still not sure if the problem you are seeing is due to auto-leveling [up/down] or adaptive focusing [left/right].

And when did the problem manifest itself. Was any work done?

With more insight, we can help troubleshoot.

Car had a minor front end collision. Headlights were changed from factory HID to regular bulb headlight. So the little motors that adjust headlight dont do anything.

I just watnt to disable the system and not have the message on the dash.

So there is no malfunction or troubleshooting needed. Cant help you there except the gaudy tape over the message or suggest to revert to proper setup. Easy for me to state, but this repair might have justified going through insurance even with high detectable. You can try salvage agencies like LKQ who specialize in imports. There are Asian parts suppliers like Amayama for OEM parts.

Out of curiosity ... was the bulb replaced or the headlamp assembly or assemblies?

Before you spend a dime on Techstream, please make sure that it will fix the issue that you have.

My understanding is that what you want the tool to do is to reconfigure your vehicle to non-afs and not-self leveling. And OR not generate an error message.
