Team, I know I read somewhere where a genius wrote what those two lower front Passenger Side Faux Grill Driver's side functional grill Driver's side cooling radiator behind grill
grills are for... I noticed my driver's side has a cooling radiator of some sort but the passenger side is faux .. guidance appreciated and thanks as always!!
The working vent on the driver side allows air flow through the extra transmission cooler that you will have if you have the towing prep package. Note the vent holes on the front part of the driver side front tire fender liner to permit air flow through the cooler.
Now if you do not have the tow prep package, I don't know if Lexus gave you a faux vent or the same real vent to save money.
Thanks!! Ok... just to be sure .. my driver's side does have a functional grill with a cooler .. I assume towing package ready , ( if ever desired), but the passenger side.. it doesn't look like it's doing much.. am I to understand there is a function happening there...?? Thanks as always!!
The function of the passenger side fake grill is to provide symmetry to the front end of the vehicle so it looks better and it is part of the vehicle designers intent. Many vehicles have similar fake air vents etc because they make the vehicle look better, or fit with the corporate vehicle chemistry. Note that many Lexus vehicles or any manufacturer, share certain styling trends. You could ask the same thing about every crease or bump on the front end of the car. They all look different, not everything is functional. Sometimes it just looks better that way. Enjoy the ride.
