Window Tinting
Excuse if redundant, I asked about this a while back but now I'm ready to do the tint.
I basically want to match my front windows to my back windows which appear to be factory tinted. I had a problem in the past with my previous RX where they made the tint too dark, but in this car, sitting in the back seat looking out at night, it is not too dark. Does anyone know what the actual tint number is I should ask for in order to closely match the back windows? I think I heard 20% somewhere. What does that mean? 20% blockage?
On a related question, is it advisable to get the front windshield tinted too, or is that not advisable? I can't remember if I did or did not tint the front window on my last RX.
Truthfully the main purpose is changing in the car after the beach...

If you asked this before you can look at your old posts to find that thread and our answers.
Maybe someone else knows what the factory rear window tint amount is. However I am pretty sure the tint shop guys know what the factory tint is on every car model.
There is a window tint law in most states. I found Florida's -you cannot tint your windshield.
For all Florida vehicles, front side windows can have a maximum reflection of 25%. All rear windows can have a maximum reflection of 35%. The front windshield can not have any amount of reflection, even above the AS-1 line where tint can be applied.Jan 30, 2023
This has more detail and answers some of your other questions.

If you notice closely there is mark on the front windshield, below which you can not apply tint. It is roughly in line with the rear view glass and the dot pattern to reduce glare. I have seen some very old cars/trucks [pre 90's] which have a band of blue tint. All add ons are form and function. IMHO if you drive West in the late-afternoon the function may overweigh the form.
Most of the Lexus tinting is done at the dealership [independent contractors] at the point of sale. I would call the local dealership and get their referral. Here they leave a decal stating it meets the local codes.
