Default 2007 RX 350 Oil Cooler

Good day all,

I am in the middle of having my completely engine rebuilt and my mechanic is almost finished and higly recommends that I replace the oil cooler and associated lines

long story short I had a cylinder 4 misfire that the PO failed to mention and upon changing plug, coil and preforming a compression test and opening up the heads there was metal shivers, and the cylinder wall was slightly gouged? scraped? and there where metal shivers in the oil lines (the ones with the bango bolts connections)

while the engine is out I rather replace all the lines but it seems that they are describe differently easy task BUT the hardest part is actually finding a replacement oil cooler ????

everywhere its 600-900 for this part??

Is there a generic oil cooler part or rather go with a junkyard part ?? I will most likely never tow anything thing that's why I have my Jeep GC lol BUT no where can this part be found ????

I guess for the oil cooler lines i need the newer dual metal updates but for the other bank ones I cant find a link since my 2007 still shows the older style rubber piece

I would just take apart the cooler and clean it, it is a fairly simple piece and doesn't take much to disassemble. However, it isn't a generic "radiator" style cooler like the transmission cooler, it's a specific fit to the 2GR-FE. If you want a "newish" one, there's a few on eBay right now that have the update oil cooler lines already attached to them. 2007-2015 RX, 2008-2015 Highlander, 2011-2016 Sienna and 2009-2015 Venza all have the same engine oil cooler.

Thank you much is the dorman metal line product compatible?
and yes the damn oil cooler is like a unicorn finally found one but it ships from Japan appears toyota prefers to sell as a part of the oil pan assembly or why would they charge a whopping 600-1k ?

A few members have it and it seems to work fine, but I got the Toyota one because for me it was actually cheaper at my local dealer. I have heard of fitment issues w/ the Dorman, but I am not sure if that is user error or quality issues. Can say the Toyota one is super nice, fit perfectly and is stainless steel.

I would avoid that one it seems to be the “updated” rubber line which can still fail. It costs almost twice the price too and shouldn’t even exist. The one I linked up is the metal one and will fit 2007 cars as well, or any 2GR-FE. Toyota messed up with their compatibility in the system
