Default Keep Volume Controls with new Head unit?

Hey guys! After getting a 2015 RX350 heated steering wheel, reverse camera and Pioneer head unit into my 2002 Highlander, I'm feeling inclined to treat the RX with the same goodies. I've got a 2020 RX350 heated steering wheel w/ air bag and paddle shifters ready to go. The heating element in this wheel has different wiring than the 2013-2015 models so I'll have to figure it out again, but I already have test-fit the wheel and it is a perfect fit! Of course, I need to make some adapters and what not to get the horn working, etc. Will post DIY when I get around to that. Shouldn't be too bad.

Steering wheel swap aside, I was wondering if anyone has been able to retain the stock steering wheel controls on their new head unit? If so, what did you use to make it work? I've never had experience with this because the Highlander never had steering wheel controls in the first place. If it's too hard or uses too many pins for the controls, I'll just skip them and save the inputs for the heating element and paddle shifting functionality.

I don’t know, but that is a very nice upgrade.

could you buy a 2007-2011 4th gen LS and upgrade the ugly 4 spoke wheel to the newer 3-spoke 2013+ design.?

I don’t have a problem with 2RX steering wheel. Ha

I like my 2RX wheel too! Too bad it's falling apart! Chances are like most Toyotas the wheels have the same 30-odd splines and hub so it fits right on. This 2020 RX wheel fit my Highlander too! But obviously looked a bit out of place in the interior lol. I would see if the two cars have the same clockspring, which they probably do. But the two wheels share the same hub as seen so it would indeed work!
