How well does Apple car play intergate with a 05 Ls430 is it possible to have it and still have navi functions and steering wheel functions? Will it mess up anything else?

Great question -

I don't think there's anything on the market that's going to accomplish all that off the shelf. The non-navi cars can get double din head units with carplay but the steering wheel controls don't work unless you manage to do some custom wiring.

You can add an additional screen to the navi but I don't think you'll retain the steering wheel controls.

I got a SL3-b from Viastech which doesn't have full carplay functionality, but it lets you play bluetooth audio on the car and retains use of the steering wheel controls. Ever since I got an ES350 loaner, I've been obsessed with bluetooth audio - and this completely scratches the itch.

Bluetooth audio with steering wheel controls isn't much money ($230 for the kit, $0-$120 for installation).

Car play head units are pretty pricey ($650?) and getting the steering wheel controls to work on the unit could get pretty pricey.
