Looks like its got enough blue LED's to match any ricer mobile around town, I hope its power and efficiency numbers will make it worth while.

Somehow I believe the blue LED's and the 20" wheels are for show purposes only. The production cars should look just like the regular RX330's.

Default RX 400H

My Lexus Dealer told me the hybrid is supposed to get mid 50's MPG and have approx 320 hp. It is going to be called the RX 400H.

Has anyone else heard this or have other information on the hybrid?

With the addition of the electric motors I believe the hp number, but I don't see how they will achieve anything close to "mid 50's MPG." The Prius, which has about 1/3 the HP and just half the weight, barely gets that kind of fuel economy. Doesn't seem possible, but if it turns out to be true they are just going to fly off the lot.

The dealer said that the voltage on the RX hybrid will be double that of the Prius....Can that explain the better MPG for the RX?

We'll have to wait and see if it really IS better than the Prius, which is something that I seriously doubt. I think fuel economy in the mid or high 30's is about all you can realistically hope for. This would STILL be a remarkable achievement for a 4,000+ lb SUV that develops 300+ hp.

Default Motortrend estimate mpg

I saw a Motortrend snippet about the hybrid. It said to expect mpg around 36 city/32 highway. Even though it was a Motortrend estimate, it seems very reasonable since the RX will be tuned for more performance.

The claims of mpg in the 50s sound quite ridiculous considering the RX will weigh around 2 tons. It isn't a lightweight economy car. Period. Dealers don't know shiat. You should all take what they say with a grain of salt.

Plus, electrics will likely be less effective at helping the gasoline drivetrain at highway speeds; electric motor forte is acceleration from stop since max torque developed at zero rpm!!

Still should be a monster!! But not inexpensive.....................

According to this link, the hybrid RX (Toyota SU-HV1) shown at the Tokyo Auto Show has 427 hp (240hp V6 + 163hp electric motor up front + 24hp at the rear) . Do you think the 2005 RX400H Hybrid will have as much power? I will buy one if it does.

Looks like the new Hybrid RX will have severe front bias. The front wheels can get 240hp V6 plus 163 hp electric motor max, yet the rear only gets 24 hp. Not very good in my humble opinion. I prefer the current 50/50 split.
