Default Blend Door Hunting/Crunching

Has anyone had this happen to them? I have the lower dash apart and it’s not the blend door actuators, just the door itself. It is not dependant on temperature / climate control, fan speed or AC settings, just when the mode is set to either Feet vent or Feet and Hands/Face vent, but not just Hands/Face itself. Basically, it happens when the blend door is set to redirect some air to the feet vents and the ignition or car is on.

I can hear the noise coming from the door and I can see it jerking/hunting for some reason, you can even feel it on the door itself. I have tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to no avail. Has anyone ever found a solution to this?

-TIA

My car does this too.
I bought a replacement servo on fleabay dirt cheap, aftermarket.
Haven't installed it but my noise goes away when I move the vents to defrost.

When these units go bad they can "hunt" and Spazz out.
You should be able look up in there with a flashlight when it's spazzing & making noise and see the servo's lever vibrating back and forth at a stead rate but not going anywhere or moving the flap- this is the noise you are probably hearing.

This piece described above is called the "Mode servo" aka "Air Outlet Control Servo" for anyone following along.

Testing:

Quote"
a) Remove the air outlet control servo motor.
b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 and negative (-) lead to terminal 5, then check that
the lever turns to "DEF" position.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4, then check that
the lever turns to "FACE" position."

Anyone else have a Spazzing and noisy servo like me?

Ok, putting me on the spot! haha

I'll dig the part out of storage in my shed and get in installed this weekend and post up pics for ya'll.
I've been putting it off for over a year already. haha
Easy access on driver side.

What I mean by easy access is I san see it well when plastic trim is removed but will it come out with plenty of clearance?
I dont know yet, so we shall See!

>> Below- the "Mode Servo" is the one we are interested in for anyone following along.
> Air mix servo on driver side is also accessed in the same way and sufferes the same fate.

Oh no! Whoops! Haha. Do you happen to know the brand/part no. for that door? I can go buy it and throw it in as I already have a lot of the dash apart already. I’ll post as many pics as possible

Pics of removal would be awesome.
I dug this out of my storage tote in the shed today.

Honestly, since it was a year or so ago when I had the plastic cover off I can't remember exactly what the old servo unit looks like.
Today is the first time I opened my fleabay replacement servo to take a look and took some pics for everyone.

Please let me know if this is what you are seeing up in there since I have not tested for fitment yet.
AND- this generic POS came in a white box with no writing on it but had a part# on a small white sticker- the actual unit has no brand or markings on it- totally generic. lol

The noise is coming from this guy here. I might remove more and investigate further
