Default Hit the Like Button, Post More PLEEZE!!!

I found the Like Button- see below for location! haha

Just thought I'd do a quick post on hitting the Like Button and Posting More.

So much talent and experience & so many people with ideas who may not be mechanics but have something to say- PLEEZE POST MORE!!!

Why do I give away so many likes?
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm guessing people like to feel appreciated when they contribute and I like to let them know they are.

I wish I could like every post for people who contribute but then the "Like Button" would loose all meaning whatsoever so I can't.

One thing I like to do is give new members who have the courage to sign up & contribute in the way of tips, trix, and helpful comments a like on their first post because I remember how scared I was when I first joined and wondered if anyone liked anything I had to say or if I should leave and move on with life...

Just my thinking, and I don't expect for anyone to agree with me and I can be completely wrong but last I checked in my understanding it's not a contest but rather a forum where there is a spirit of teamwork and sharing.

Nobody has to be an expert on any of the topics of the threads to have something to share and in my opinion everyone who shares, no matter how small, is contributing and I like reading everyones posts and I'm really hoping others do too.

Tell the story please:
I come here like many others to share your journey.
Posts I enjoy reading have content, plz tell the story.

I'm shy:
Yeah, I was too at first and that's ok.
Over time I realized the forum is moderated and I saw troubmakers get a reckoning so I don't worry about hateful people on here and feel completely safe.

And in case anyone missed it...

It's right here

Cheers!

Have a good idea for a thread or nothing lately interests you what not start new thread in what you want to talk about- something fun and/or interesting!
Even if nobody replies to your thread don't let it get you down because while not all threads get replies they are always read and someone in the future may like to respond if it has value to them.

// *Stories of your RX related travels & experience, what's going lately with your RX, etc, etc, etc the sky is the limit. //

I'd like to see more fights between the forums, here. You know, like we could make fun of the ugly 4th generation RX's.

Just kidding.

Default I don't have any friends

I don't have any friends!
When I first signed up as a new member I had no friends too.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Making friends is easy!

When I did my first thread I was afraid so I left for a long time before I had to courage to come back and start posting again.
I had never been a part of any forum(except a techincal forum almost 20 years ago that was totally different and only a very short time) and didn't really know how to make friends or if anyone would want to be my friend.

Turns out it's quite simple.
All I did was click on a members profile who I like their posts and clicked the "add as friend" or something like that.
Almost every friend request I sent was accepted.

Sometimes requests don't get accepted and that's ok and no reason to be sad or embarrased, not everyone wants to be social or they may be shy too or there could be other personal reasons or maybe didn't notice they had a friend request.

Anyway, just wanted to do a post of encouragement to Club Lexus members saying most people on here are more friendly than you know and making friends is easy.

Default Moderators, Invitation to Mods

Just wanted to drop a quick post about moderators.

I'm not a "mod" and don't want to be cuz it a thankless job and they have to be the "bad guys" working behind the scenes 24/7 to keep our forum safe and friendly.
So what do we do when we need help and forum advice?

Gosh, I wasn't really too sure either so I reached out to a mod recently and thought I'd share the info for everyone cuz I'm sure other members have questions too.

1) How do I report an offensive post or thread?
2) Questions about rules?
3) What are appropriate subjects for threads and posts and/or what is forbidden, ex politics, pornography, etc?
4) How can I request to make this thread a sticky or thread related questions, etc, etc?
5) Just about any other question relating to the ins and outs of the forum.

I am still fairly new and learning how it all works so I know it must be hard for new members to figure out all this stuff, just sharing what I was told below.

//////////////////////////

Question or concern about specific post/thread.
This method can be used to report a post for bad behavior, recommend a thread for a sticky, etc or anything else you would like to consult a mod about.

Go to any post and click on the white triangle outlined in red- this icon is located under the profile pic of the member who posted.

Next a friendly display box will pop up.
Here is where you type in your info since it will go straight to a "mod" when sent.

///////////////////////////////

Other ways to reach out to a moderator:

Very simple, scroll to the bottom of the page in the Lexus model forum you are visiting, here you will see a list of "mods".
From what I was told today, any of the mods can help you- so just click on a name and follow the prompts.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Moderators Invited!!!
Just like to throw this out there and just my opinion, after all this is a forum, it would be nice if some "mods" would post once in while so we can get to know ya and see ya around. I know in other Lexus model forums the mods are quite active. Wish ya'll drop by here and say hi too and post if ya want.

Great to hit the ''like'' button when ppl add or have great info....On another note, it'd sure be great to have the ''OP'' to respond to their theads when asking questions. As I as well as others have taken the time to answer their different questions.

Default Compressing Images, Tinypng

Hi members,

Sometimes I post a pic or maybe several pics and I worry about slowing down the page load speed for everyone else, expecially people viewing the thread on a cell phone.
I've noticed photo intensive threads take FOREVER sometimes to load on my phone. haha

So, for the last year I have been compressing all my images at tinypng.com before posting- a free service to squeeze down the file size for pics.

Check this out and hope ya'll like and just thought I'd share if it interests anyone!

Pic size 299K before and only 93K after with a savings of 69% !!!
That's awesome and the same pic can be run multiple times squeezing it down until no more gains left.
Bonus- does not seem to noticably affect the quality of the image. Sweet!

Default How to Have More Fun on Club Lexus!

Hi friends,
Just thought I'd make a quick post on how to have more fun on Club Lexus!

Many members may not realize but there is another section to the forum open to all members.

What do we talk about?
It depends- check this out!

"The Clubhouse" section is for any various topics people make threads and post about- everything from UFO's to Electric Lawnmowers, Movies, Music, etc, etc, etc and other fun stuff.
"Car Chat" section is all about cars- here you will find all kinds of car topic threads on newer models made by different Mfg's and all kinds of other fun stuff.

From my experience so far and what I've seen:
Same rules apply- no politics, polite & courteous behavior, etc following the CL terms as I read them in my understanding.

How do I get there?
It's easy, check this out.

Just a quick post to encourage new members to post and share your stories and your car stuff.

No need to lurk if you don't want to, you can make a new thread about your car, contribute to existing threads, and encourage others too if you feel like it

Costs nothing, make new friends and join the club!

PS- not a member yet? It's easy, hit the "register" button above!

Hi Margate330, I see you have a 2004 RX330. Would love to chat with some of you 2nd generation owners and we can share experiences with our vehicles. I feel this is the best generation RX. Best combination of smoothness, styling, space, efficiency, and reliability without going overboard on tech. Some people might think the 3rd gen has the better overall package but I really don't think so, and I've thought about it for years.

Welcome to Club Lexus!

Sure, if you make a new thread I will post, and hopefully will others too.
