vibration at 65mph or above(still present)
I am still experiencing a slight vibration in my steering wheel at 65 or above highway speeds. Ive had a alignment done, i just had new front brake pads and rotors put on under warranty because i was getting a pulsing as i was slowing down; so those are new; i also had one tire replaced because the outer edge was worn through all the way around. then also had all 4 tires re balanced as apparently they were off a little; but even with all this being done im still getting a slight vibration at these highway speeds. Whats next? axles? carrier bearings?
its NOT the tire that was in question. I had that REPLACED!. And the other 3 are perfectly fine. and let me rephrase; its not a vibration but a "wobbling" of the steering wheel I keep feeling and seeing at highway speeds 65 or above; its also random at times; sometimes it will happen for a short time and then go away; other times it starts up again and then does it for a long duration.

This may be kind of far out, but I remember watching a youtube video on the gen2 rx regarding the u-joint on the steering column. It developed wear and the steering had excessive play because of it. Try checking that out.
thanks dennis; i will have my indy shop look at that. What about axles and or bearings? any possibility there?
I don't think axles could cause the steering wheel to wobble. If the CV joints are wearing, that would create an out of balance situation like your tires. The axles are not involved in steering.
While wheel bearings could cause sloppy steering, they would have to be EXTREMELY worn out. Wheel bearings tend to be noisy critters when they start wearing out, I would think you would hear them. Secondly, if the wheel bearings were so worn as to allow slop, that should have been caught during a wheel alignment when they check for things like ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. But wheel bearings are a 5 minute check.

Hi Matt, I'm experiencing the same issue with my RX350 2006 model, I believe the front wheels bearings are to blame, I have replaced, brake rotors, lower control arm bushings, brand new tyres all around, turning into a long sweeping right-hand corner at speed I can definitely hear worn wheel bearing noise coming from the front of the car. Please let us know what your service centre comes up with. Cheers Jon (from Australia).

Yes replace both the front wheel bearings, even if a mechanic tells you they are fine. I had to go to 3 different places before I said to them just humor me and replace both of them….Problem fixed! I wasted a lot of money listening to so called professional’s!
