I recently had a P0304 CEL and rough idle, misfire. Fortunately it was Cylinder 4 (P0304 - 03 means misfire; 04 means Cylinder 4) which was located in the front bank. I had a P0305 (05 means a back located ignition coil) back in December and I had the back Ignition coils replaced by my trusted mechanic because you all know how hard or cumbersome it is to do the back cylinders. I requested that I be given the 2 good coils for eventual re-use. I can not find the other 2 coils which were still good, I forgot where I put them - I am getting old...(lol..and it will happen to you someday too!). I quit looking for it and purchased a Denso replacement from .mazon - $51, came in 2 days. What came is a direct replacement, cool. In fact I recognized it since my old company used to mold the plastic that housed the coils. This Stick Coil do not look like the original, looks different (the old ones are a bit semi-round and this new one is square-ish). I dropped it in and fired it up as normal.
Lesson learned: When you have spare components, take a pic of where you stash it, will save you a headache and some $.
Great idea, 'bout a quick pix of where you put somethings......
LOL, I am still scratching my head on how clever I was with the hiding of the 2 Ignition coils! On of these days they will show up. But the thing is because of this Covid thing I have cleaned up the garage and my storage top down. I did not come across them. Wait I have not checked my storage bin in the RX, the one in the bottom of the cargo.
BTW, the locking clip is broken off the wiring clip on #4 (they all break). Likely it won't budge since the seal makes a tight fit, but on mine, I just add a dab of silicon (gasket maker, shoe-goo etc.) to stop it vibrating loose. easy to peel silicon off if you need to remove it in future.
You noticed about the broken clip, good eye. And yes after many years and the temps they are exposed to, they get brittle. I was going to wrap it with high temp tape. Thanks for the reminder.

actually thats a good idea. Yea mine are probably brittle too from being exposed to the intense arizona heat. I just had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand so i only have one free hand right now to check them. so when i get 2 free hands i will get out there and check them.
