Default What would cause shaking on acceleration?

Weird new behavior on a 2004 rx330. I just replaced rotors and pads and alt and power steering belts. Now it brKes great drives smooth. New tires. When u accelerate it shakes. Let off the gas smooth as silk. Whatever speed. Accelerate shake. I’m still trying to see if speed.

I’m pondering it and experimenting with different things. Too tight of belts wouldn’t cause this will it ?
my friend got something Like a branch or idk and then that broke her power steering belt which caused the trip to my shop. And I just did all that and it seemed fine on initial test drive.

A tire shop had told her she needed control arms to get alignment right. But they looked fine to me. 122k a Lexus would t need co trip arms right ?

If there's slop in the control arms, yea you'd feel the slop. Really shouldn't, but if it needs control arms, then I'd get them installed & alignment done....I wouldn't think so at that mileage thou, but I've seen worst at lot less mileage & different vehicles. I'd use the IPC....import direct arms.....

thanks Felix. I can’t find any slop. I’ve had a lot of cars on my lift with bad ball joints and and replaced many control arms and this things steers great, brakes smooth , and Feels really tight. It has to be what she hit on the road the other day. I changed out the spare tire on the front right last night to see if what she hit had bent the rim and it still seemed to be the same.

I googled and lots of people with rx describe same symptom — even to the 40mph when it starts and the solution was new axle. One person said new rim. Tried rim. So apparently these axles May bend easy?

Im going to replace the axle and report back. Import direct is Oreilly brand I’ve seen for things. I’ll give it a go. Thanks !

When's the last time an alignment was done? My old Camry had a nasty shake at highway speeds but only on acceleration or very high speed coasting. Brakes, axel, control arms, sway bar links were good. I was due for tires anyways by that time and had alignment done too, tire shop said it was wayyyy outta wack. Smooth after that.

so that tire shop did alignment a month ago and said she needed new control arms. I bet u nailed it. What she hit knocked it out of alignment.

thanks Lexus wiz

Blast from the past -- so to update here is where we are at -- Tried OEM rim from pull a part with a used tire on it which i assumed they balanced. Then she got it aligned and that didn't help. So I'm back to something is bent and from google the symtoms of shaking exactly starting at 40 mph people say bent axle. So i'm going to try that. Thanks for all the help you all. I'll update after i put in axle.

Also, anyone have the factory Right axle replacement procedure to share? I'll search too. There seems to be some trick when i read earlier. Clearance being tough.

Thanks all.

Check the boots on your axles; if it's been ripped, your axles could be out of grease and contaminated. My 06 rx330 had torn boots and vibrated/shooked 45-65mph. Replaced the axles and no more vibrations and shaking. Also, sometimes steel belts in tires will break and will form a bulge on the surface...you'll feel the same results.

Default Shakes upon acceleration.....

Sure sounds like CV Axel. Passenger side Axel is longer with a bearing ring half way that should be sprayed with oil penetrant overnight. A tire wrench would be helpful leveraging the shaft off the transmission.
Best to change both sides while you’re at it.

I have a similar issue, when I hit about 30mph car starts shaking. My mechanic tells me it's the U joint. Unfortunately it's connected to the whole propeller assembly so I will need to replace the whole thing
